Key Responsibilities:
- Backup System Management: Implementing, configuring, and maintaining backup and recovery systems, including hardware and software.
- Backup Scheduling and Monitoring: Ensuring backups run according to schedule, monitoring backup jobs for success or failure, and validating backup integrity.
- Disaster Recovery Planning: Developing and documenting disaster recovery plans and conducting regular disaster recovery drills.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identifying and resolving backup failures, performance issues, and other problems related to backup and recovery.
- Data Recovery: Performing file restores and data recovery as needed.
- Compliance and Security: Ensuring compliance with data protection and retention policies and maintaining the security of backup systems.
- Documentation: Creating and maintaining documentation related to backup and recovery procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
- Reporting: Generating reports on backup status, performance, and adherence to SLAs.
- Collaboration: Collaborating with other IT teams to optimize backup and storage solutions and resolve cross-functional issues.
- Capacity Planning: Planning for future storage needs and ensuring sufficient capacity for backups.
- Support integration of various storage technologies (SAN & NAS) with Commvault backup systems.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 7 years in Commvault backup & 4 years in storage administration and support.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-scale Commvault deployments in Azure, including backup, recovery, and archiving.
- Leverage object storage and cloud repositories for offsite/long-term retention and immutability.
- Ensure integration with cloud-native platforms for disaster recovery and long-term archiving.
- Implement encryption, air-gapped backups & immutability policies.
- General knowledge of networking fundamentals and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Experience with capacity planning, utilization analysis, and backup optimization.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
- Administer and maintain enterprise storage systems like HPE 3PAR, StoreOnce, Nimble
- Deep knowledge of SAN/NAS technologies and protocols (iSCSI, FC, NFS, CIFS/SMB)
- Proficiency in storage zoning, LUN provisioning, and replication technologies.
- In depth knowledge of director level Cisco and Brocade fiber channel switches
Preferred Skills :
- Certifications in Commvault & Azure.
- ITIL Foundation or experience in ITIL-based operational environments.
- Create automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, or REST APIs) for backup tasks and reporting.
- Exposure to storage technologies (HPE 3PAR, StoreOnce, Nimble).
