Requirements

50% DBA & 50% Development

We are looking for an experienced Snowflake Database Administrator to manage and support production, development, and QA databases, ensuring maximum availability for various applications

The role includes core DBA responsibilities across System Administration, Database Administration, Performance Management, and Reporting.

Perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, tuning, and issue resolution

Manage database operations for high availability and reliability

Interact directly with customers/vendors-requiring strong communication and presentation skills

Mentor junior team members and contribute to team growth

Support 24/7 operations and extended hours as needed

Technical Skills -Mandatory Skills

Automation & Pipeline Management

Automate data transformations using Streams and Tasks

Manage continuous ingestion using Snowpipe

Implement data pipelines using SnowSQL

Create Azure DevOps (AZDO) CI/CD pipelines

Drive process improvements (automation, optimization, scalability)

Design and implement AI agents in Snowflake for automating data workflows and operational tasks.

Manage and optimize agent-driven processes using Snowpark and AI/ML frameworks for intelligent data operations.

Security & Access Management

Manage users and security configurations

Implement RBAC (roles, users, privileges)

Apply Snowflake security features:

o Access Control, Authentication & Authorization

o Encryption and Secured Views

o Masking Policies, Object Tagging, Row-Level Security

Configure Network Policies (IP whitelisting, secure access)

Performance & Optimization

Tune performance of virtual warehouses

Optimize compute through scale-out and scale-in strategies

Design and manage clustering keys for large tables

Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks

Cost Management & Governance

Monitor and manage compute, storage, and data sharing costs

Optimize costs for Time Travel and data retention

Set credit quotas to control budget usage

Data Engineering & Integration

Integrate and transform structured and unstructured data

Strong understanding of:

o Data Lakes

o Data Warehousing

o Data Sharing concepts

Expertise in relational and dimensional data modeling

Database Administration (DBA)

Create and manage databases, tables, views, and data sharing

Handle performance, user access, and security

Troubleshoot database issues

Perform testing of cloud-based database solutions

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

Configure replication and failover across regions/cloud providers (Azure)

Ensure high availability and DR readiness

Monitoring & Operations

Monitor system performance and workloads

Manage warehouse utilization

Provide continuous operational support and issue resolution

Scripting & Development

Develop SQL scripts and stored procedures

Write Unix Shell scripts

Automate administrative tasks using Python via Snowflake APIs

Experience with Snowflake tools (SnowSQL, SnowCD, etc.)

Good to have: Teradata Experience
