Staff Software Development Engineer - Platform
Role
We are looking for a Staff Software Development Engineer to join our team. This is a hybrid role based in Bangalore, reporting to the Sr. Manager, Engineering in the Identity & Access Management department. You will help manage digital risk by applying security through identity integration and controls. In this role, you will build workflows and application integrations as coordinated with the larger IAM team, Product Management, and Business teams.
What you'll do (Role Expectations)
Lead the development of identity management products for Zscaler
Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs using Java
Ensure code quality by writing and maintaining unit, integration, and performance tests while monitoring, debugging, and optimizing system performance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions and contribute to Agile/Scrum processes like sprint planning and retrospectives
Participate in on-call rotation to support a highly available engineering platform and ensure compliance with federal guidelines

What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging, securing, or positioning AI-driven solutions to optimize outcomes within your functional domain
Deep proficiency in enterprise Java, object-oriented programming (OOP/OOA), systems architecture, RESTful APIs, and frameworks such as Hibernate and Spring
Good understanding of CI/CD tools and processes
Hands-on experience with SQL and Postgres
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and one or more major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience implementing AI-driven anomaly detection, intelligent identity analytics, or machine learning models for automated policy generation within enterprise access management platforms
Strong understanding of DevOps automation workflows, advanced CI/CD pipelines, and container infrastructure orchestration
Comprehensive knowledge of Identity and Access Management protocols including OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, Federation, and SSO
