We are seeking an experienced Technical Accounting Manager to join our team to lead the revenue accounting function in Bengaluru to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant revenue recognition for Databricks. Drive close excellence (MEC), strengthen internal controls (SOX-ready), and partner cross-functionally across RevOps, Deal Desk, Revenue Assurance, Sales Ops, Legal, FP&A, and Audit. This position requires close collaboration with our core Revenue Accounting teams based in the U.S., providing essential global financial support to Databricks. This is an individual contributor position, and you will be required to work in PST hours.

The impact you will have:

  • Ensure proper application of ASC 606 to customer contracts.
  • Perform and review monthly accounting close activities and deliverables (i.e. journal entries, account reconciliations, revenue estimate calculations, month-end analytics).
  • Execute and continuously improve MEC
  • Own revenue subledger-to-GL tie-out; prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations (deferred revenue, contract assets, unbilled AR).
  • Perform flux analysis vs. plan/prior period; resolve discrepancies quickly and conclusively.
  • Sponsor process and system enhancements across ERP, billing, and revenue automation; define requirements, lead UAT, and maintain controls and documentation.
  • Support the financial reporting process by preparing supporting schedules
  • Establish well-defined checklists, calendars, and SLAs for MEC and audits; escalate blockers early and bias for action to unblock close.
  • Evaluate transactions in accordance with revenue policies with minimal supervision.
  • Provide management insights and recommendations for improving scalability and efficiency
  • Support the external reporting requirements for the quarterly and annual audits
  • Drive root cause analysis investigation and documentation for issues impacting scope of responsibility to drive first principle resolution
  • Analyze large sets of data and identify key drivers to support trends in key financial metrics (i.e. revenue, unbilled revenue and deferrer revenue)
  • Build a strong partnership model with Deal Desk, Legal, Sales Ops, RevOps, and FP&A to preempt revenue-impacting terms and resolve issues prior to booking.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key business partners
  • Implement and maintain required process & internall controls, perform control procedure to ensure compliance with company policy

What we look for:

  • Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance; CA/CPA/ACA certification required
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Revenue Accounting or Quote to cash or related financial operations
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams is preferred
  • Experience with Netsuite & Salesforce are preferred, SAP experience also beneficial
  • Experience with Salesforce and subscription billing platforms is strongly preferred, usage-based SaaS ASC 606 contract experience a strong plus
  • Expert knowledge of MS office suite
  • Ability to work independently, to effectively manage time, prioritie tasks and work within deadlines with little supervision
  • Demonstrated success improving MEC speed/quality, internal controls (SOX), and audit outcomes.
  • Excellent written documentation; confident, data-driven communication with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Align working hours to support global close and audit windows. Rotating overlap windows within the team for month-end, quarter-end, and audit cycles. Occasional extended coverage during peak periods
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • SQL proficiency to generate reports and dashboards are a plus
