API Test Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated and manual API test cases for RESTful and SOAP web services.
• Validate API functionality, request/response payloads, authentication, authorization, and data integrity.
• Develop and maintain API automation frameworks using REST Assured, Postman, or SoapUI.
• Execute integration, regression, functional, and end-to-end API testing.
• Integrate automated API test suites into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
• Perform API testing in AWS environments and validate cloud-based integrations.
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with developers for timely resolution.
• Perform backend validation using SQL queries and database testing.
• Prepare test plans, test cases, automation scripts, and test execution reports.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous quality improvement.

Required Skills

• Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in API Testing.
• Strong hands-on experience in testing REST APIs and SOAP Web Services.
• Expertise in Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI, and Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Mandatory experience with AWS (API testing in cloud environments).
• Mandatory experience with Jenkins for CI/CD pipeline integration.
• Strong knowledge of JSON, XML, OAuth 2.0, JWT, and API security testing.
• Proficiency in Java for API automation.
• Strong SQL skills for backend database validation.
• Experience with Git, Maven, and defect tracking tools such as JIRA.
• Good understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile methodologies, and API lifecycle management.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of performance testing using JMeter.
• Exposure to cloud-native testing and DevOps practices.
• ISTQB Certification is an added advantage.
