Mainframe Developer

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Mainframe applications using enterprise development standards.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
• Develop and support batch processing jobs, online transactions, and interfaces.
• Perform code reviews, debugging, unit testing, and defect resolution.
• Optimize application performance and ensure high availability of Mainframe systems.
• Collaborate with QA, business analysts, and production support teams throughout the SDLC.
• Support production deployments, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.
• Prepare technical documentation, design documents, and operational procedures.

Required Skills

• Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in Mainframe Development.
• Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
• Experience in IBM Mainframe development environments.
• Strong knowledge of batch processing, online transaction processing, and file handling.
• Experience with Mainframe utilities such as File-AID, SPUFI, Endevor, or Changeman.
• Good understanding of SQL and database concepts.
• Familiarity with job scheduling tools such as Control-M, CA7, or equivalent.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in Agile or Waterfall development environments.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance (BFSI), or other enterprise Mainframe environments.
• Exposure to Mainframe modernization or integration with distributed systems.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD for Mainframe applications.
• Experience with IBM Debug Tool or similar debugging utilities.
