Mainframe Tester

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute test cases for Mainframe applications.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end testing.
• Validate batch processing, online transactions, and data integrity.
• Analyze business and functional requirements to create comprehensive test scenarios.
• Execute test plans, identify defects, and work closely with development teams to resolve issues.
• Validate data using DB2, VSAM, and Mainframe utilities.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and production validation activities.
• Prepare test reports, defect logs, and quality documentation.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in Mainframe Testing.
• Strong knowledge of COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
• Experience with IBM Mainframe environments.
• Hands-on experience with File-AID, SPUFI, IBM Debug Tool, or similar Mainframe testing utilities.
• Good understanding of batch job processing and scheduling tools such as Control-M or CA7.
• Experience with defect tracking tools such as JIRA or ALM/Quality Center.
• Basic SQL knowledge for data validation and reconciliation.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance (BFSI), or other enterprise Mainframe environments.
• Knowledge of test automation tools for Mainframe applications is an added advantage.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
• ISTQB Certification is preferred.
