About The Job:

- As a Senior Mainframe DB2 DBA at *** are project-based subject matter experts in all thing's infrastructure – good at providing analysis, documenting and diagraming work for hand-off, offering timely solutions, and generally “figuring it out.” This is a hands-on role where your feel for the interaction between a system and its environment will be invaluable to every one of your clients.
- There are two halves to this role: First, contributing to current projects where you analyze problems and tech issues, offer solutions, and test, modify, automate, and integrate systems. And second, long-range strategic planning of IT infrastructure and operational execution. This role isn’t specific to any one platform, so you’ll need a good feel for all of them.
- You’ll be involved early to offer solutions, help decide whether something can be done, and identify the technical and timeline risks up front.
- This is a project-based role where you’ll enjoy deep involvement throughout the lifespan of a project, as well as the chance to work closely with Architects, Technicians, and PMs.

Essential Job Functions:
- Around 10 Years of Experience in Mainframe DB2 Database administration.
- Responsibilities include installation and maintenance of databases, DB2 upgrades, performance monitoring & security compliance.
- Monitoring health check jobs like Image copy, Runstats, DDL$DML reports.
- Rebalancing of Partitions
- Space Management and Monitoring
- Performed End-to-End Release activities
- Creating and scheduling utilities like COPY, Reorg, RUNSTATS and QUIESCE
- Running Adhoc Reorgs, Runstats and Rebinds in Production
- Implementing and scheduling production DB2 jobs
- Monitoring daily, weekly and monthly batch cycles
- Handling Technical Lead role and knowledge across mainframe platforms
- Housekeeping and Maintenance of files owned by DB2 Database
- Tuning of Databases and DB parameters
- Tablespace Migration
- Provided 24*7 production support on rotation basis
- Creation and maintenance of DB2 objects and privileges
- Execution of database maintenance utilities (refresh, copy, recovery, reorg, stats collection)
- Performing data refresh from production to test environments
- Responsible for backup, load, reorg and performance enhancement
- Implement DB2 objects across TEST to PROD environments
- Scheduling DB2 housekeeping jobs in production
- In-depth knowledge of utilities: LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTAT, REORG, COPY
- Working with Client Admin tool suite, Query Monitor
- Managing user permissions to databases
- Scheduling maintenance operations based on workload
- Design, implementation and optimization of DB2 databases
- Perform database structure updates and modifications
- Implement backup and recovery infrastructure
- Monitor and upgrade DB2 database and support performance tuning
- Experience with Client Utilities and JCL
- Provide solutions independently
- Support high volume production DB2 subsystems
- Handle backup, recovery and disaster recovery
- Participate in on-call and off-hours support
- Assist application teams with SQL issue resolution
- Support testing environment data refresh
- Maintain DDL and image copy activities
- Support migration of DDL to production
- Experience with BMC DB2 tools
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
