Purpose

To lead and optimize the entire supply chain ecosystem, including demand planning, procurement, inventory management, production planning, and logistics. The role ensures the right material reaches the right place at the right time and at the optimum cost. The position aligns local supply chain operations with global Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes and drives the implementation of robust systems to improve responsiveness, agility, and long-term supplier performance.

Scope & Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Oversee raw material (RM) and packaging material (PM) procurement, demand planning, production planning, inbound and outbound logistics, and inventory management.
  • Drive alignment with global demand planning processes.
  • Lead sourcing strategy, vendor development, and stores operations for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Ensure uninterrupted material availability for production with zero stock-outs while maintaining minimum excess inventory.

Key Responsibilities

1. Integrated Demand Planning & S&OP Alignment

  • Establish a robust demand planning system in collaboration with the Global Demand Planning Manager.
  • Lead the monthly S&OP cycle for material requirement planning by aligning forecasts with market trends and production schedules.

2. Production Planning Oversight

  • Supervise the Production Planning Manager and ensure optimal production schedule adherence and seamless material flow across production units.
  • Convert sales forecasts into actionable production and procurement plans.

3. Procurement and Sourcing Strategy

  • Lead the Procurement Manager and oversee sourcing activities for raw materials, packaging materials, and indirect materials.
  • Develop strategic supplier partnerships, negotiate contracts, and implement supplier risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and manage strategic partners for outsourced manufacturing.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives and local as well as global vendor development.

4. Inventory and Stores Management

  • Supervise raw material and finished goods store managers to ensure inventory accuracy, efficient warehousing, and minimal obsolescence.
  • Optimize inventory through end-to-end control of material flow and consumption.
  • Implement safety stock policies and Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) processes.
  • Introduce and sustain Just-in-Time (JIT) and Kanban systems to balance inventory costs with material availability.

5. Logistics and Distribution

  • Ensure timely and efficient movement of inbound materials and outbound finished goods.
  • Coordinate dispatch activities with internal teams and external logistics partners.

6. Systems, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead digital transformation initiatives within Supply Chain through ERP systems, planning tools, and performance dashboards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, Integrated Management Systems (IMS), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement (CI), Lean Supply Chain initiatives, and sustainability programs.

7. New Product Development (NPD) Support

  • Collaborate with the Product Development team to review product requirements and project timelines.
  • Coordinate cross-factory planning with global teams.
  • Ensure timely sourcing and availability of new materials required for product launches.

8. MIS Reporting

  • Prepare and review reports related to sales, purchasing, inventory, customer service levels, and SKU portfolio.
  • Update and maintain global supply chain dashboards.

9. Team Development & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Supply Chain team with strong accountability, agility, and ownership.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Sales, Quality, Finance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end supply chain alignment.
