MS SQL Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases in production and non-production environments.
• Monitor database health, performance, and availability to ensure optimal system performance.
• Perform database backup, recovery, disaster recovery (DR), and high availability (HA) configurations.
• Configure and manage Always On Availability Groups, Database Mirroring, Log Shipping, and Replication.
• Optimize SQL Server performance through query tuning, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
• Implement database security, user management, encryption, and access controls.
• Troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and provide timely resolutions.
• Perform database migrations, upgrades, patching, and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and development teams to support database requirements.
• Prepare and maintain database documentation, SOPs, and operational procedures.

Required Skills

• Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience as an MS SQL DBA.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019/2022.
• Expertise in SQL Server Administration, Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, and Index Management.
• Experience with Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, Log Shipping, and Database Mirroring.
• Strong knowledge of Backup & Recovery, Disaster Recovery (DR), and High Availability (HA) solutions.
• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and SQL scripting.
• Experience with SQL Server monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Knowledge of Windows Server administration and PowerShell scripting is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instance, or cloud-based SQL solutions.
• Familiarity with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
• Exposure to DevOps, automation, and CI/CD processes.
• Microsoft SQL Server certifications are preferred.
