- Lead administration, provisioning, and lifecycle management of Microsoft SQL Server environments, with strong hands-on experience in Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, SQL Server on Azure VMs, and on-premises SQL Server (Azure and SQL Server experience required).
- Own SQL Server performance management and tuning in Azure and hybrid environments, including query optimization, indexing strategies, capacity planning, resource governance, and proactive performance troubleshooting.
- Design, implement, and validate backup, restore, and point-in-time recovery strategies for Azure SQL and SQL Server, ensuring automated backups, regular restore testing, and operational readiness.
- Architect and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions for SQL Server and Azure SQL, including Always On Availability Groups, Azure Failover Groups, replication, clustering, and Azure-based DR architectures, with regular failover testing.
- Define and enforce database security, compliance, and governance standards for Azure and SQL Server platforms, including RBAC, least-privilege access, encryption at rest and in transit, auditing, and regulatory alignment (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Establish monitoring and observability for Azure SQL and SQL Server workloads using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and SQL Server tools to detect performance anomalies, capacity risks, and availability issues.
- Lead data lifecycle and scalability initiatives within SQL Server and Azure SQL platforms, including data archiving, retention policies, partitioning, and strategies to support large-scale datasets.
- Collaborate closely with application and platform teams to review SQL Server-based designs, guide schema evolution, and ensure database readiness across development, test, and production environments.
- Drive automation and DB Ops practices for Azure and SQL Server using Infrastructure as Code, PowerShell, T-SQL, and Azure CI/CD pipelines, standardizing deployments and reducing manual operational effort.
