Role Purpose
The Lead MuleSoft Architect provides technical leadership and architectural direction for API design, development, integration, platform governance, and operational excellence across the enterprise.
This role is responsible for defining integration patterns, ensuring alignment with canonical models, enforcing security and compliance, and guiding teams in delivering scalable, secure MuleSoft APIs and services.
The architect will act as a senior escalation point for complex integration challenges and collaborate across Business Units, Group Services, C4E, and project teams.

Location & Working Pattern
This role has flexibility around physical working location.
However, the successful candidate must be able to operate effectively within European time zones, collaborating with distributed teams across multiple markets.

Key Responsibilities
1. Integration Architecture & API Design
- Define and maintain high-level and detailed API architecture across multiple programmes.
- Drive API modelling aligned to canonical standards.
- Create and review architecture diagrams, integration patterns, and routing strategies.
- Lead impact assessments for APIs across BUs and platforms.
2. MuleSoft Platform Leadership
- Govern platform-wide standards including upgrades, logging frameworks, API reuse, and pipeline improvements.
- Ensure conformance with enterprise security requirements.
- Oversee deployment processes across environments.

3. Delivery & Technical Leadership
- Serve as primary technical authority for integration initiatives.
- Work with developers, security engineers, and DevOps teams.
- Support Business Units onboarding to shared APIs.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with architects, product owners, and C4E teams.
- Lead workshops, scoping meetings, and mapping sessions.
- Influence architectural decisions across teams.
5. Security, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security and privacy requirements.
- Govern proxy APIs, routing, header structures, and error handling.
- Lead audit, review, and change-approval processes.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Improve integration pipelines, CI/CD workflows, SonarQube gates, and configuration management.
- Provide direction on emerging patterns and technologies.
- Share best practices across communities and working groups.

Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive hands-on experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
- Strong background in enterprise integration architecture.
- Deep understanding of security principles.
- Proven leadership of multi-stream API delivery.
- Strong communication and stakeholder influence skills.
- Experience driving platform upgrades and governance models.



Qualifications
- MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect or Platform Architect preferred.
- MuleSoft Developer Certification (MCD Level 1 minimum).
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
