We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer with strong expertise in technology evaluation, process design, energy efficiency assessment, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and comparing competing process technologies for industrial projects, identifying optimal technical solutions, and providing quantitative assessments of energy consumption, carbon emissions, operational performance, and economic viability.

The role requires a solid understanding of process engineering principles, sustainability metrics, decarbonization strategies, and the ability to support technology selection decisions through rigorous technical and environmental evaluations.

Key Responsibilities
Perform technical evaluations of process technologies for energy, chemical, petrochemical, refining, gas processing, hydrogen, carbon capture, and industrial decarbonization projects.

  • Develop and compare process technology options based on:
    • Energy efficiency
    • GHG emissions
    • Utility consumption
    • Process performance
    • Capital expenditure (CAPEX)
    • Operating expenditure (OPEX)
    • Reliability and operability
  • Conduct process simulations and engineering studies to quantify energy usage and process efficiencies.
  • Establish energy balances and identify opportunities for process optimization and heat integration.
  • Evaluate technologies using sustainability and decarbonization criteria.
  • Prepare technology screening studies, feasibility studies, and concept selection reports.
  • Perform benchmarking of technologies against industry standards and best available techniques.
  • Support front-end engineering and concept development activities.
  • Develop technical evaluation matrices and decision-making frameworks for technology selection.
  • Identify opportunities for:
    • Energy savings
    • Carbon reduction
    • Utility optimization
    • Process improvement
  • Collaborate with licensors, technology providers, project teams, and clients during technology assessment exercises.
  • Prepare and present technical recommendations to stakeholders and management.

Work Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in process engineering and technology evaluation.
  • Proven experience evaluating multiple process technologies and preparing technology comparison studies.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Process Design Fundamentals
    • Heat and Mass Transfer
    • Thermodynamics
    • Energy Integration
    • Process Optimization
  • Experience performing energy efficiency assessments and carbon footprint evaluations.
  • Familiarity with industry sustainability and decarbonization initiatives.
  • Proficiency in process simulation tools such as:
    • Aspen HYSYS
    • Aspen Plus
    • PRO/II
    • Petro-SIM
    • UniSim Design
  • Ability to develop energy and carbon performance indicators.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in:
    • Hydrogen production technologies
    • Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS)
    • Renewable fuels
    • Sustainable aviation fuels (SAF)
    • Energy transition projects
  • Experience conducting techno-economic assessments (TEA).
  • Exposure to digital engineering and advanced process analytics.
