The Role
We are seeking a skilled learning experience designer who excels at bringing learning experiences to life. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in instructional design who enjoys hands-on execution, content development, and collaboration.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in instructional design, excellent writing skills, and a strong track record of designing engaging, evidence-based learning experiences across in-person, live online, and digital modalities. They will collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams to clarify objectives and deliver scalable learning solutions that drive measurable behavior change for a diverse global audience. As a member of the Design Center of Excellence in CCL’s Product Development team, they will also experiment with innovative approaches and champion effective design practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Learning Experience Design and Content Development
- Design engaging, human-centered, and accessible in-person and live online learning experiences that facilitate social and experiential learning.
- Storyboard and develop asynchronous digital learning assets, including video scripts, quizzes, microlearning assets, activities, and supporting materials.
- Integrate various modalities (e.g., in-person, live online, asynchronous digital) into cohesive blended learning journeys.
- Facilitate design conversations with stakeholders to clarify goals, refine content, and ensure alignment with business and learner needs.
- Develop clear, actionable learning objectives that connect directly to client challenges and desired business outcomes.
- Review videos, digital learning content, and print materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established standards.
- Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
- Innovation and Learning Technology
- Continuously evaluate and apply emerging tools, technologies, and approaches (including AI-assisted content development) to enhance the quality and scalability of CCL’s learning experiences and design processes.
- Leverage learning data and analytics (where available) to inform design decisions and improve outcomes.
- Provide feedback and feature recommendations to product managers for CCL learning technologies.
- Contribute to evolving design standards, best practices, and innovation within the Design COE.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Deep knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design models, with the ability to apply them in complex, real-world contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to design across modalities (in-person, live online, asynchronous digital, blended learning).
- Strong writing skills, including the ability to develop clear, engaging instructional content and video scripts.
- Ability to convey complex ideas concisely and clearly across multiple formats.
- Experience developing digital learning experiences using tools such as Articulate Storyline (or similar).
- Experience applying accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and inclusive learning practices.
- Thoughtful use of AI tools to enhance both quality and efficiency
- Comfort working in ambiguous, matrixed work environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under deadlines.
- Sound decision-making skills when applying design standards in novel or complex situations.
Preferred
- Video editing experience using Adobe Premiere Pro or similar
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required with a master’s degree or certificate in Leadership, Education, Learning Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in the design field such as learning experience designer, e-learning designer, instructional designer, or related professional role.
- Instructional design certifications such as 4MAT, ATD, etc. are a plus.
