Job Description

  • Manages the development of functional specifications for project assignments and may help develop requirements for larger, more complex development efforts.
  • Oversees/guides the development of software architectures for complex applications.
  • Ensures development documentation for applications is performed and complete.
  • Ensures and oversees the development of moderately and highly complex application code that meets defined requirements.
  • Manages the day-to-day activity of staff.
  • Provides feedback on performance appraisals.
  • Manages the development and training of the staff.
  • Approves paid time off requests (PTO) and ensures human resources policies are followed.
  • Directs the work of more junior staff.
  • Contributes monthly to resource capacity planning.
  • Oversees the building of deployment packages, deployment of software packages, manages use of issue tracking software, source code control, and other supporting activities related to application development projects.
  • Directs others in the development of hardware and software specifications.
  • Manages others in database development/design decisions.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Good to have AZ-900 certification.

Skills & Abilities

Exceptional problem solving and research skills. Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills for leading discussions and meetings with team members, users, and external stakeholders. Demonstrates the expert knowledge of core computer science topics, such as: Object and/or Function Oriented Design; advanced data structures and algorithms; relational database design; and W3C standards. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Visual Studio or equivalent IDE. Demonstrates good leadership skills. Excellent knowledge of SQL variants. Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following: C/C++, C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript & HTML. Expert knowledge of an enterprise database, such as SQL Server or Oracle. Knowledge and integration of design patterns, application modeling (UML, flow diagrams, wireframes, etc.), QA practices and tools (unit testing, issue tracking, source code control, continuous integration), automated configuration management. Excellent ability to work with internal and external stakeholders, at all levels, translate client requirements into detailed specifications. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and leadership skills to cultivate strategic relationships with colleagues, customers, and partners.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. 10 years of related with at least 2 years of those in a management or leadership capacity. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Background Check and Drug Testing Information

Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
