Role Description The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Kolkata. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and oversight of accounts payable and receivable. The Senior Accountant prepares and reviews financial statements, supports budgeting and forecasting, and ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The role involves monitoring cash flow, supporting audits, analyzing variances, and providing financial insights to management for decision-making. The Senior Accountant also assists in improving accounting processes, implementing controls, and mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and practices, including general ledger management and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling to support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Ability to manage month-end and year-end closing processes, reconciliations, and support internal and external audits.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and to mentor and guide junior accounting staff.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications such as CA, CPA, or CMA are an advantage.
  • Prior experience in a senior or lead accounting role, preferably within a corporate or manufacturing environment.
