Field Services Engineer

Goose Industrial Solutions Private Limited is recruiting to join our growing automation & industrial services company, for a Resident Engineer role covering PLC, SCADA, and field instrumentation support across Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram plants.

Key Responsibilities:

\n
• Provide on-site technical support for Siemens S7-400 based PLC systems
\n
• Troubleshoot and maintain field instruments (sensors, transmitters, flow/level/pressure devices)
\n
• Monitor and support SCADA systems for plant processes
\n
• Attend breakdown calls and ensure minimum downtime at site
\n
• Coordinate with HO team for spares, escalations, and technical guidance
\n
• Maintain service records, AMC logs, and site visit reports
\n
• Support commissioning and upgrade activities as required
\n
• Travel between Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram sites as per work schedule
\n

Troubleshooting Responsibilites:

\n
• Diagnose PLC faults using Simatic Manager - CPU status, diagnostic buffer, I/O faults, communication errors
\n
• Identify and rectify field instrument faults - RTD/thermocouple wiring, 4-20mA loop issues, open/short circuits
\n
• Troubleshoot SCADA-PLC communication failures (Profibus/Profinet/Ethernet links)
\n
• Perform root-cause analysis for recurring breakdowns and recommend corrective action
\n
• Handle VFD faults, motor run issues, and valve/actuator malfunctions on site
\n
• Escalate unresolved technical issues to HO with clear fault documentation
\n

Added Responsibilities - Field Study & AMC Business Development:

\n
• Conduct field study visits at prospective and existing client sites to assess automation upgrade needs
\n
• Identify AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) opportunities during site visits and service calls
\n
• Support the sales team by sharing site-level technical findings for AMC and upgrade proposals
\n
• Build and maintain relationships with client plant teams to support AMC renewals and expansion
\n
• Report field study findings and AMC leads to Head Office on a regular basis
\n

Required Skills:

\n
• Strong working knowledge of Siemens S7-400 PLC (troubleshooting, minor program changes, backups)
\n
• Hands-on knowledge of Simatic Manager software for programming, diagnostics, and backups
\n
• Hands-on experience with field instruments (RTD, pressure/level/flow transmitters, control valves)
\n
• Working knowledge of SCADA systems (WinCC or equivalent)
\n
• Basic electrical/instrumentation fault-finding skills
\n
• Ability to work independently at remote sites with minimal supervision
\n
• Good communication skills for client interaction and HO coordination
\n

Other Requirements:

\n
• Willingness to travel between Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram
\n
• Two-wheeler/vehicle preferred for local site travel
\n
• Must report to Head Office (Kochi) once every 3 days in a month
\n
