Job Description: SAP PI/PO Consultant
Experience: 6–8 Years Role Type: Mid-Level / Senior Consultant
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced SAP PI/PO (Process Integration/Process Orchestration) Consultant to design, develop, and support enterprise integration solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in end-to-end integration projects connecting SAP and non-SAP systems, with a strong understanding of integration architecture, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement integration scenarios using SAP PI/PO (7.4/7.5) including both dual-stack and single-stack (AEX) environments.
  • Build interfaces using ESR objects (Data Types, Message Types, Service Interfaces, Message Mappings, Operation Mappings) and configure Integration Directory objects (Communication Channels, Integrated Configurations, Receiver Determinations).
  • Develop and consume synchronous and asynchronous interfaces across protocols such as IDoc, RFC, SOAP, REST, HTTP, JDBC, JMS, File/FTP/SFTP, Mail, and SAP Business Connector.
  • Implement complex mapping logic using Graphical Mapping, Java Mapping, XSLT Mapping, and ABAP Mapping; create reusable UDFs as required.
  • Work on B2B integrations using SAP B2B Add-on (AS2, EDIFACT, X12) where applicable.
  • Perform monitoring, error handling, and performance tuning of interfaces using RWB, NWA, Message Monitoring, and Channel Monitoring.
  • Collaborate with functional consultants, ABAP developers, Basis teams, and third-party vendors to gather requirements and deliver integration solutions.
  • Prepare technical specifications, interface design documents, unit test cases, and support documentation.
  • Provide production support, root cause analysis, and resolution of integration issues within agreed SLAs.
  • Support migration activities from SAP PI/PO to SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI) / Integration Suite where required.
  • Participate in code reviews, follow best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of hands-on experience in SAP PI/PO implementation and support projects.
  • Strong expertise in ESR and ID configuration, ICO (Integrated Configuration Objects), and AAE (Advanced Adapter Engine).
  • Proficiency in adapters: IDoc, RFC, SOAP, REST, JDBC, File/SFTP, JMS, HTTP, Mail, and SuccessFactors/Ariba adapters (preferred).
  • Solid understanding of XML, XSD, WSDL, JSON, and EDI standards.
  • Experience with Java Mapping, XSLT, and writing User-Defined Functions (UDFs).
  • Working knowledge of BPM/BRM (Business Process Management / Business Rules Management) is a plus.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across PI/PO components.
  • Familiarity with SAP CPI / Integration Suite is highly desirable.
  • Experience integrating SAP ECC, S/4HANA, and third-party systems (Salesforce, Workday, Ariba, etc.).
  • Good understanding of security concepts: SSL, SFTP keys, certificates, and PGP encryption.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
  • SAP certification in PI/PO or Integration Suite.
  • Exposure to SAP BTP, Cloud Integration (CPI), and API Management.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools for SAP (CTS+, Git, Jenkins).
