Oracle PL/SQL Developer
Key Responsibilities
Database Development Design, build, and maintain robust Oracle PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
PostgreSQL Integration Develop and refactor database objects, queries, and routines specifically optimized for PostgreSQL environments.
Migration & Conversion Analyze existing Oracle database structures, map code dependencies, and assist in converting PL/SQL code to PostgreSQL dialects (PL/pgSQL).
Performance Tuning Troubleshoot slow-running queries, optimize indexing strategies, design table partitioning, and analyze execution plans across both platforms.
Data Integration Build and support efficient ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) solutions and data pipelines to ensure seamless data movement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with backend developers, QA engineers, DevOps, and business analysts to deliver database changes safely and securely.
Documentation & Operations Write clean technical documentation, automated deployment scripts, and standard operating procedures for database rollouts.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
Oracle & PL/SQL Expertise Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database (11g/12c/19c) and advanced PL/SQL development.
PostgreSQL Familiarity Solid understanding of PostgreSQL development concepts, data types, and syntax.
Core Database Design Mastery of complex SQL syntax, relational database design, data modeling, and normalization principles.
Optimization Tooling Experience using execution plans and diagnostic tools (like EXPLAIN and EXPLAIN ANALYZE) to identify and fix performance bottlenecks.
Scripting & Systems Competency in Unix/Linux shell scripting to automate routine database tasks and data pipelines.
Modern Tooling Familiarity with code versioning systems (Git/SVN) and basic awareness of Agile/Scrum team workflows.
