Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
• Administer and manage Proofpoint Email Protection (POD / on-prem or hybrid) environments.
• Configure and maintain SMTP mail flow, inbound and outbound connectors, and routing rules.
• Manage Proofpoint policies for:
o Spam and malware filtering
o Phishing and impersonation protection
o Attachment and URL defense
o Email encryption and DLP
• Configure, maintain, and monitor SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for multiple domains.
• Perform daily monitoring of mail queues, logs, and alerts within Proofpoint and Linux systems.
• Troubleshoot complex email delivery issues using SMTP logs, headers, and Proofpoint tracking tools.
• Maintain and harden Linux-based email gateway servers:
o OS patching and updates
o Service monitoring (Postfix/Sendmail where applicable)
o User and permission management
• Automate operational tasks using shell scripting / Python.
• Support incident response for email-based security events (phishing campaigns, malware outbreaks).
• Collaborate with SOC, Network, and Messaging teams to resolve escalations.
• Maintain documentation, SOPs, and change records for SMTP boundary configurations.
• Participate in audits and ensure compliance with internal security policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Hands-on experience with Proofpoint Email Protection (cloud or on-prem).
• Strong knowledge of SMTP protocol, mail flow, and email headers.
• Solid Linux system administration experience.
• Familiarity with Postfix, Sendmail, or Exim.
• Experience configuring SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
• Ability to analyze logs and troubleshoot email delivery issues.
• Understanding of email security threats: phishing, spoofing, ransomware, and malware.
• Experience working in enterprise or high-availability environments.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Microsoft Exchange / Exchange Online integration with Proofpoint.
• Proofpoint certifications (PPSA, PCSA) or equivalent experience.
• Scripting experience (Bash, Python).
• Experience with SIEM integration (Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar).
• Familiarity with TLS, SMTP encryption, and certificate management.
Working Conditions
