\nPosition Summary :
\nThe Senior Accountant is responsible for delivering high-quality accounting, taxation, and advisory services to National Accounts’ clients.
\nThis role ensures all client financial records, statutory obligations, and tax lodgements are accurate, compliant, and strategically optimised, while supporting continuous improvement across systems, processes, and team capability.
\nThe Senior Accountant plays a critical role in protecting and growing clients’ financial futures through compliance, insight, and proactive tax strategy.

Key Requirements :
\nDemonstrated experience in an accounting role within an Australian accounting practice
\nStrong working knowledge of Australian taxation and compliance
\nStrong understanding of Australian tax law and accounting standards
\nHigh-level financial analysis and reporting capability

\nJob Responsibility :
\nReview of Client Accounting Records
\nReview client bookkeeping files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
\nVerify Profit and Loss statements reflect true financial performance
\nEnsure GST has been correctly calculated, reported, and reconciled
\nIdentify discrepancies, risks, or errors and ensure timely resolution
\nProvide feedback and guidance to Bookkeepers to maintain high-quality standards
\nBalance Sheet & Compliance Reconciliations
\nPerform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including:

- GST \n
- Payroll and superannuation \n
- Loans and financing \n
- ATO and statutory accounts \n
Investigate and resolve discrepancies efficiently
\nEnsure audit-ready records are maintained at all times
\nBAS / IAS Preparation & Lodgement
\nPrepare and lodge monthly and quarterly IAS/BAS accurately and on time
\nEnsure all relevant financial data is correctly captured and reported
\nMonitor statutory deadlines to avoid penalties
\nProvide clients with clear summaries and explanations of lodged activity statements
\nAnnual Financial Statements & Tax Returns
\nPrepare annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards
\nPrepare and review business and personal income tax returns
\nVerify accuracy and completeness of all data prior to lodgement
\nLiaise with clients to obtain outstanding information and resolve queries
\nEnsure timely and compliant lodgement of all returns
\nTax Planning & Minimisation
\nIdentify and implement effective tax minimisation strategies tailored to client needs
\nAnalyse client structures and financial positions to optimise outcomes
\nProvide advice on tax planning, structuring, and compliance matters
\nStay current with Australian tax legislation and regulatory changes
\nClient Advisory & Query Resolution
\nRespond to accounting and tax-related client queries professionally and clearly
\nTranslate complex accounting and tax matters into practical advice
\nBuild strong, trusted client relationships
\nProactively identify risks, opportunities, and improvement areas
\nTeam Support & Collaboration
\nProvide technical guidance to Accountants, Bookkeepers, and Admin staff
\nAssist team members with complex accounting or tax issues

\nI dentify opportunities to improve accounting and tax processes

\nSecondary Responsibilities
\nBookkeeping & Payroll Support
\nPerform or review bookkeeping tasks where required
\nSupport payroll processing, payroll tax, and WorkCover compliance
\nAssist with resolving payroll-related client queries
\nInterim Reporting
\nPrepare interim financial reports as required
\nProvide insights and commentary to support client decision-making
\nASIC / ABR Administration
\nManage ASIC and ABR records and updates
\nAssist clients with compliance-related queries and lodgements
\nClient Onboarding & Entity Setup
\nSupport onboarding of new clients
\nAssist with new entity registrations and structural setup
\nProvide guidance on entity structures and compliance requirements
