Job Description
- Candidates with B2C/ Consumer brands experience to apply \n
- Candidates with commercial contracts and IPR experience to apply \n\n
- Lead drafting, reviewing & negotiation of all commercial contracts including:Licensing agreementsThird‑party manufacturing agreementsRoyalty agreementsBrand collaborations & marketing partnershipsVendor, supply chain, distribution, and retail contracts \n
- Build standardized templates to support rapid scale‑up and protect brand/IP. \n
- Manage all legal and compliance aspects of Escape Plan's licensing-led model, including long‑term exclusive brand licenses and category rights. \n
- Ensure accurate royalty calculations, reporting & compliance with global brand partners from a legal standpoint. \n
- Manage all trademarks, brand registrations, oppositions, renewals & enforcement. \n
- Identification and protection of proprietary design elements, product IP and brand assets. \n
- Exposure to patents will be an advantage. \n
- Support investor due diligence, term sheets, SHA/SSA review & negotiation. \n
- Ensure governance & compliance post-fundraising. \n
- Work closely with founders and external counsel on investment rounds. \n
- Create compliance frameworks and internalSOPs for a consumer brand handling:E‑commerce rulesConsumer protection lawsLegal MetrologyFSSAI (if applicable to accessories such as wellness/travel items)Advertising standards \n
- Ensure statutory compliance via close coordination with consultants. \n
- Work closely with product, sourcing, brand, ops, retail & finance teams. \n
- Provide commercial and risk‑based legal advice supporting fast decision‑making. \n
- Handle disputes, litigation, notices & regulatory queries with agility. \n\n
- LLB degree. \n
- Strong experience in commercial contracting (absolute must). \n
- Ability to work independently as a single‑person legal function. \n
- Excellent communication, articulation & stakeholder management. \n
- IP experience (trademarks/patents/licensing). \n
- Exposure to fundraising/ investor documentation. \n
- Experience in B2C consumer brands, D2C, lifestyle, fashion or travel categories. \n
- Law firm candidates with strong contracts/IP background encouraged. \n
- Startup experience \n
