Lead – Test Engineering, Automation, Validation & Certification (Power Converters – up to MW range)

Role Summary

\n

This role owns the complete V&V + certification lifecycle of high-power converter systems—from early validation strategy to final regulatory approvals across global markets (India, EU, US).

\n

You will be accountable not just for testing, but for ensuring products are certifiable, compliant, and grid-ready .

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

1. Test Strategy & Validation Architecture

\n
  • Define end-to-end V&V strategy aligned with certification requirements
  • \n
  • Develop Design Verification Plan (DVP) & Product Validation Plan (PVP)
  • \n
  • Ensure traceability from requirements → test cases → certification clauses
  • \n

    2. Test Infrastructure Development

    \n
  • Build and manage:MW-scale test benchesGrid simulators & regenerative load setupsBattery emulators for PCS validation
  • \n
  • Ensure infrastructure supports pre-compliance + certification testing
  • \n

    3. Test Automation & HIL

    \n
  • Lead automation architecture:Python / LabVIEW / TestStand frameworks
  • \n
  • Develop HIL-based certification scenarios :Grid fault simulationsDynamic grid behavior
  • \n

    4. Functional & Performance Validation

    \n
  • Validate:Grid synchronization, PLL, power controlLVRT / HVRT / anti-islandingProtection mechanisms
  • \n
  • Perform efficiency, thermal, and dynamic response validation
  • \n

    5. Certification & Regulatory Compliance (NEW – CRITICAL SECTION)

    \n

    Certification Ownership

    \n
  • Own complete certification lifecycle :Pre-compliance → certification testing → final approval
  • \n
  • Act as single point of contact for certification bodies and agencies
  • \n

    Standards & Compliance Scope

    \n
  • Lead compliance for:Safety standards : IEC 62109, UL 1741Grid interconnection : IEEE 1547, IEC 61727, IEC 62116EMC/EMI : IEC 61000 seriesEfficiency & performance : IEC 61683, EN 50530
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with:Regional grid codes (India, Europe, North America)
  • \n

    Certification Planning & Execution

    \n
  • Translate standards into:Test cases and validation procedures Design requirements (DFx: DFM, DFS, DFT)
  • \n
  • Plan and execute:Pre-compliance testing (in-house)Certification testing (external labs)
  • \n

    External Lab & Agency Management

    \n
  • Interface with:NABL / TÜV / UL-certified labsRegulatory bodies and utilities
  • \n
  • Manage:Test scheduling, documentation, issue closureCertification timelines and cost optimization
  • \n

    Documentation & Technical Files

    \n
  • Prepare and review:Technical Construction File (TCF) Test reports, compliance reportsRisk analysis (FMEA, hazard analysis)
  • \n
  • Ensure audit readiness
  • \n

    Gap Analysis & Risk Mitigation

    \n
  • Conduct:Standard compliance gap analysis early in design
  • \n
  • Drive:Design changes to ensure first-pass certification success
  • \n

    Grid Code Validation (Critical for MW Systems)

    \n
  • Validate compliance with:LVRT/HVRT curvesReactive power supportFrequency ride-through
  • \n
  • Coordinate with utilities for grid compliance testing
  • \n

    6. Reliability & Environmental Testing

    \n
  • Execute:HALT / HASSThermal cycling, vibration, humidity
  • \n
  • Support certification-related environmental requirements
  • \n

    7. Cross-functional Leadership

    \n
  • Work closely with:Design, Controls, Firmware teams
  • \n
  • Influence design for:TestabilityCertifiability (this is key at senior level)
  • \n

    8. Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Automate:Certification reportsValidation dashboards

  • Track:Certification readiness metrics

    Required Qualifications

    \n

    Education

    \n
  • B.E./B.Tech / M.Tech in Electrical / Power Electronics
  • \n

    Experience

    \n
  • 10–15+ years in:Power electronics validationCertification of grid-connected systems
  • \n
  • Proven experience with MW-scale converters / PCS / inverters
  • \n

    Technical Skills

    Certification Expertise

    Hands-on experience with:

  • IEC / UL / IEEE standards

  • Grid compliance testing

  • Experience in:Taking products through full certification cycles

    Power Electronics
