Casualty Analyst

Job Role:
\nWe re looking for a Casualty Analyst to join a global content operations team that supports real-time monitoring of maritime incidents and risk intelligence. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the intersection of data, compliance, and open-source research .
\nKey Responsibilities
\nResearch and investigate complex incidents using open news sources, social media, as well as incoming agent reports to maintain completeness of the Seasearcher database, becoming a subject matter expert with full knowledge of in-house methodology across the content operations team, and be able to articulate this in written responses and incident reports
\nEnsure associated vessel data is accurate when publishing the incident report, in particular ownership and management, class and P&I
\nReport on Total Losses to client's Agency and work with client's Agents at identifying new or unreported incidents
\nWork within the client's List Intelligence content and data teams to validate, publish and analyse incoming incident reports, and proactively identify breaking incidents as reported by global sources; in line with objectives for our COACT (Completeness, Origin, Accuracy) Completeness, Timeliness) data quality framework
\nValidate sanctions records as they come in, particularly on weekends and during shifts.
\nEnsure data quality KPIs and daily tasks are met and suggest ways to improve processes and efficiency working within our COACT data quality framework
\nTimely delivery of existing Data Quality Programmes, offering proactive solutions and process improvements and reporting to senior management; work as part of a project team to build, verify and validate our analytics capabilities for addressing customer Operations, Risk and Compliance solutions as per the product development roadmap
\nIdentify and escalate any data/analytics issues quickly and proactively, providing potential solutions
\nDevelop a deep understanding of the different customer groups and how they rely on our insight and services
\nKeep abreast of emerging market trends and regulatory changes in the maritime industry, particularly with regards to incident reporting standards, and competitor advances in the maritime data market
\nIf required, attend client meetings as a subject matter expert alongside sales and product management, and present to senior management
\nFoster collaboration and share information with other in-house data teams, to optimise the quality of our data
\nWhat we are looking for:
\nEssential
\nAt least 1-2 years experience in data analytics, data science, business intelligence, consultancy, or research, with strong OSINT skills
\nA core part of your job is editing content to be concise, readable, verified so you must be proficient in English with excellent written skills
\nMinimum of a Bachelor s degree, preferably in Computer Science / Software Engineering / Maths / Physics or equivalent numerate qualification; However, candidates with Political Science / Journalistic, Editorial and written content creation experience may also be considered. Experience with common data analytics software and programming languages (R, Python and SQL) and proven experience in analysing complex data sets
\nExperience of working with Big Data would be advantageous as is the ability to manipulate, model and analyse diverse datasets for use with analytics techniques
\nExcellent interpersonal skills and good command of English verbal and written communication
\nDemonstrable ability to work under pressure and manage several tasks simultaneously
\nA customer-first approach and strong time management skills and ability to produce high quality content within set deadlines
\nStrong stakeholder management is required in this role, and confident presentation skills for internal and external audiences
\nDesirable
\nExperience using datasets in natural language processing (NLP) would be an advantage
\nComprehensive understanding of the maritime industry and an established network of contacts in the maritime industry
\nAbility to compile concise training methodology and to simplify the complex, and to tailor your delivery to all types of audiences is desirable
\nDirect customer interactions, in a B2B environment
\nExperience from an online solution, analytics and subscription business
\nInnovative and dynamic approach to problem-solving and proven success in implementing data, research and content improvements
\nExperience mentoring junior colleagues or peers, and delivering technical training would be highly advantageous
