\nThis role is being created to support the business ramp-up in India by establishing a robust local supply network. The primary business objective is to identify, qualify, and develop new raw material (Tier-2) suppliers to enhance supply chain resilience and support commodity management strategies. To achieve this, the role will focus on three core areas: upstream supply network development, which involves mapping and identifying suppliers beyond Tier-1; supplier qualification and capability development, focused on assessing and improving the technical and quality performance of these raw material producers; and cross-functional risk management, ensuring collaboration with internal teams to mitigate supply chain vulnerabilities. Given the focus on building a new supplier ecosystem, the ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert with extensive experience in supplier development, particularly within raw material value chains. A strong background in quality systems, supplier auditing, and strategic sourcing, coupled with an engineering or materials science education, will be critical for success..
\nHow You’ll Make an Impact
\n- 40% Upstream Supply Network Development \n
- Identify, map, and create transparency in multi-tier supplier networks for critical raw materials, extending beyond direct Tier-1 suppliers. \n
- Establish and maintain relationships with key raw material producers (, alloys, castings, forgings) to assess their capabilities and strategic fit. \n
- Utilize supplier intelligence tools and data analytics to perform market analysis and identify potential new Tier-2 and Tier-3 suppliers in the region. \n
- Act as the primary local contact point for commodity managers regarding raw material supplier capabilities and network development in India. \n
- 40% Supplier Qualification and Capability Improvement \n
- Conduct comprehensive capability assessments and audits of potential and existing raw material suppliers, evaluating their quality systems, technical processes, and capacity. \n
- Lead the qualification and approval process for new upstream suppliers in accordance with company standards and quality requirements. \n
- Define and execute supplier development programs to improve process maturity, quality performance, and scalability of critical raw material suppliers. \n
- Resolve complex quality and performance issues originating from the upstream supply chain by driving root cause analysis and corrective actions at the source. \n
- 20% Cross-Functional Collaboration and Risk Mitigation \n
- Collaborate with Tier-1 Supplier Quality Engineers, Procurement, and Engineering teams to mitigate upstream supply chain risks (, capacity, geopolitical, material availability). \n
- Provide expert input to support robust make-or-buy decisions and ensure alignment between raw material capabilities and product design requirements. \n
- Support Tier-1 suppliers by connecting them with qualified and capable Tier-2 raw material suppliers to strengthen the overall supply ecosystem. \n
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field. \n
- 8+ years of professional experience in supplier development, strategic sourcing, manufacturing, or quality management, with a strong focus on raw materials. \n
- Demonstrated experience in supplier qualification, auditing, and capability assessment within industrial value chains (, alloys, forgings, castings). \n
