Head - P&M (Plant & Machinery) and Electrical

\n

Job Purpose

\n

To lead, plan, and manage end-to-end P&M and Electrical works across LTR construction projects, ensuring timely execution, quality excellence, statutory compliance, cost control, and KNOW HARM safety performance, while mentoring teams and managing multiple stakeholders.

\n

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Project Management
  • \n
  • Establishing EHS tactical / operational Objectives in line with the current EHS objectives of the L&T Realty.
  • \n
  • Understanding the applicable legal & other requirements (related to P&M and Electrical) and ensuring compliance in all the project sites, by interacting with the respective PM/PD and EHS Function at site.
  • \n
  • Ensuring that EHS requirements are accurately communicated to the Purchase department/ Admin department, while ordering new equipment or hiring the same.
  • \n
  • Lead and manage P&M and Electrical engineering teams, contractors, and vendors across project sites.
  • \n
  • Ensuring that operation manuals / manufacturers’ recommendations are sent to the project sites along with the equipment without fail.
  • \n
  • Provide technical leadership for P&M, equipment, HT/LT systems, substations, transformers, panels, cabling, earthing, DG sets, UPS, lighting, ELV, fire alarm, BMS, etc.
  • \n
  • Drive interface coordination with Civil, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, and ELV teams.
  • \n

    2. Planning, Scheduling & Control

    \n
  • Prepare and monitor P&M and electrical execution strategies, work programs, and milestones aligned with project schedules.
  • \n
  • Ensuring that risk assessment for all the P&M equipment is carried out (before deployment) in consultation with EHS Department (for erection, operation, maintenance, refuelling, repair, dismantling etc.)
  • \n
  • Arranging to provide scheme drawings (in consultation with Design department), wherever applicable (for ex: foundation drawings, support drawings, lift plans for critical mechanical handling operations, load calculations for spreader bar/ strong backs that are used for handling complicated and heavy P&M equipment.
  • \n
  • Review manpower deployment (i.e. license holder electricians), productivity, and sequencing of works.
  • \n
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation measures to avoid delays or rework.
  • \n

    3. Technical Review & Design Management

    \n
  • Review and approve P&M and electrical designs, shop drawings, BOQs, specifications, method statements, and value engineering proposals.
  • \n
  • Ensure design compliance with IS codes, NBC regulations, and local authority norms.
  • \n
  • Lead technical discussions with consultants, contractors, and statutory authorities.
  • \n

    4. Quality Assurance & Testing

    \n
  • Establish and enforce quality control systems for P&M and electrical works.
  • \n
  • Ensuring that all the P&M equipment are inspected at scheduled intervals, as per the given checklists.
  • \n
  • Lead P&M testing, commissioning, energization, and handover of all electrical systems.
  • \n
  • Ensure preparation of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and handover documentation.
  • \n

    5. Safety, EHS & Statutory Compliance

    \n
  • Champion a Vision KNOW HARM culture and ensure strict adherence to P&M and electrical safety and EHS protocols.
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with Scheme drawings, Permit-to-Work, LOTO, Safe energization, work-at-height safety, and PPE requirements.
  • \n
  • Ensuring that all the P&M equipment are maintained at intervals prescribed by the manufacturer (OEM) to ensure that it continues to function effectively, efficiently and safely.
  • \n
  • Verifying the competence of Electrician / Operators / Drivers / Banksmen before deployment and keeping standby Operators / Drivers, as per the requirement of the site.
  • \n
  • Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • \n
