Job Purpose
\n\nTo ensure implementation of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) standards in all electrical works at the project/site. The engineer ensures compliance with statutory regulations, safe execution of electrical installations, risk control, and continuous safety improvement.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n- Ensure compliance with all electrical safety standards, statutory rules, and permit-to-work systems. \n
- Inspect electrical installations, panels, distribution boards, temporary power systems, and machinery for safe operation. \n
- Verify proper earthing, insulation resistance, load balancing, and protection coordination. \n
- Carry out safety audits on electrical equipment (cranes, welding sets, DG sets, tools, etc.). \n
- Ensure use of correct PPE for electrical work such as arc-rated clothing, insulated gloves, tools, etc. \n
- Maintain records as per Electrical Inspectorate requirements and applicable regulations. \n
- Prepare and update electrical safety procedures (LOTO, PTW, isolation procedures, testing protocols). \n
- Coordinate periodic licensing, approvals, and statutory inspections. \n
- Monitor compliance during electrical installation, commissioning, testing, energization, and maintenance activities. \n
- Enforce Lockout–Tagout (LOTO) practices during maintenance or fault rectification. \n
- Identify unsafe conditions related to electrical work and ensure corrective actions. \n
- Perform regular site inspections to check cable routing, illumination levels, load centers, and temporary supply. \n
- Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Risk Assessments for electrical activities. \n
- Recommend preventive measures to control arc flash hazards, electrical shocks, short circuits, and fire risks. \n
- Participate in incident investigations for electrical near-misses, shocks, or equipment failures. \n
- Conduct toolbox talks and training programs on electrical safety, safe use of tools, LOTO, shock response, etc. \n
- Create awareness among supervisors, technicians, and contractors about safe practices. \n
- Support emergency preparedness for electrical fire, arc flash, and electrical shock scenarios. \n
- Ensure availability of firefighting systems suitable for electrical areas (CO?, DCP, clean agent systems). \n
- Assist in rescue and first-aid procedures (CPR, electric shock response). \n
- Coordinate with construction, operations, maintenance, and EHS teams to ensure safe execution. \n
- Work with contractors to ensure electrical safety compliance in third?party activities. \n
- Engage with top management to report safety performance and recommendations. \n\n
- Strong knowledge of electrical standards (IS/IEC Codes, National Electrical Code). \n
- Expertise in electrical inspections, testing, and statutory compliance. \n
- Ability to conduct RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for electrical incidents. \n
- Good communication and reporting skills. \n
- Degree in Electrical Engineering + Govt. recognized Electrical Licence holder \n
- Minimum 5 Years of experience in electrical safety.
