Lead Engineer - Plastic Laser Welding

Job Title: Lead Engineer

Job Location: Chennai

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Create and optimize plastic laser welding procedures for automotive ECUs, sensors, actuators, connections, and housings.
\n
• Define, test, and industrialize processes during New Product Introduction.
\n
• Set welding settings such laser power, speed, focus, clamping force, and material compatibility.
\n
• Seal, functional, and cosmetic-critical components need strong welds.
\n
• Perform process validation and documentation (APQP, PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP).
\n
• Fix production difficulties such weld strength, leakage, cosmetic faults, warpage, and particulate contamination.
\n
• DFM and DFA compliance requires collaboration with design, tooling, automation, quality, and suppliers.
\n
• Help integrate automation, inline inspection (vision, leak testing), and cycle time optimization.
\n
• Ensure IATF 16949, ISO 9001 compliance.
\n
• Implement yield, cost, and process capability (Cp/Cpk) continuous improvement efforts.
\n
• Meet laser safety, EHS, and internal production standards.
\n
• Maintain internal and external audits and customer technical reviews.
\n
