About The Job:

• Experience 8–12 years
• We are looking for a Senior DBA – IBM Db2 (UDB) with hands on experience in AWS RDS environments to provide end-to-end database operations support for enterprise-critical systems.
• The role involves ensuring high availability, performance, security, and compliance of Db2 databases along with managing cloud-based database services(AWS RDS). Strong understanding of cloud-native database operations is essential.

Essential Job Functions:
Db2 (UDB) Core Responsibilities

• Provide operational support for IBM Db2 UDB databases (Prod & Non-Prod).
• Perform Db2 installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.
• Monitor performance, capacity, and availability; proactively resolve issues.
• Manage backup, restore, recovery, and DR readiness (including HADR).
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
• Ensure database security, access controls, and compliance adherence.

AWS RDS Responsibilities

• Manage and support AWS RDS instances (provisioning, configuration, patching, and upgrades).
• Monitor RDS performance using CloudWatch, Enhanced Monitoring, and Performance Insights.
• Handle RDS backups, snapshots, point-in-time recovery, and cross-region replication.
• Implement and support high availability (Multi-AZ) and disaster recovery strategies in RDS.
• Optimize database performance in RDS (parameter groups, indexing strategies, query tuning).
• Manage RDS security configurations (IAM roles, security groups, encryption, auditing).
• Support troubleshooting and incident resolution for RDS instances.
• Work on cost optimization and right-sizing of RDS resources.

Qualifications:
Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with IBM Db2 UDB administration.
• Proven experience managing AWS RDS environments (any engine: Db2 on EC2, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
• Experience in production DBA operations in high availability environments.
• Strong knowledge of HA/DR concepts (HADR, Multi-AZ, backups, failover mechanisms).
• Solid understanding of performance tuning (on-prem + cloud).
• Experience in data masking and data archiving solutions.
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix systems.
• Hands-on scripting experience (Shell, Python, or similar).

Nice to Have

• Experience in regulated industries (banking/financial services).
• Exposure to hybrid environments (on-prem Db2 + cloud RDS).
• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database Specialty / Solutions Architect).
• Experience with multiple database platforms.

Soft Skills

• Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to handle production incidents under pressure.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
