Application Portfolio Management

  • Manage and maintain the organization's application portfolio within ServiceNow
  • Ensure every application has a clearly defined owner, lifecycle status, and accurate portfolio information
  • Support lifecycle decisions such as invest, maintain, modernize, or retire applications
  • Identify opportunities to simplify or rationalize the application landscape
  • Produce regular portfolio reports and dashboards for IT leadership
  • Ensure applications are aligned to business capabilities in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture
  • Facilitate periodic reviews of the application portfolio to support governance and decision-making

Service Governance & Alignment

  • Define and maintain a clear and consistent structure for services within ServiceNow
  • Ensure services have clearly assigned service owners and responsible teams
  • Ensure applications are correctly aligned to the services they support
  • Work with application and service owners to resolve gaps or incorrect mappings between applications and services
  • Conduct regular reviews of the service landscape to ensure services remain relevant and accurately represented
  • Monitor service performance indicators and highlight services requiring attention or improvement
  • Ensure services are structured in a way that supports operational processes such as incident management, change management, and business continuity planning
  • Improve visibility of service dependencies and impacts across the organization

Data Governance & Platform Alignment

  • Ensure application and service data within ServiceNow is accurate, complete, and up to date
  • Work with the CMDB team to maintain correct relationships between applications, services, and supporting components
  • Support data quality reviews and governance checks across the portfolio
  • Partner with platform teams to improve workflows, governance controls, and reporting capabilities within ServiceNow

Collaboration & Governance

  • Work with Enterprise Architecture to ensure the application portfolio supports business and technology strategy
  • Engage with application owners to maintain accurate ownership and lifecycle information
  • Facilitate governance discussions and portfolio review sessions with stakeholders
  • Drive improvements in application portfolio and service governance processes
  • Promote adoption of portfolio and service governance practices across the organization

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in IT with exposure to application portfolio management, service governance, or IT service management
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across architecture, operations, and application teams
  • Experience managing application or service data within enterprise platforms such as ServiceNow
  • Experience supporting governance processes, reporting, and portfolio analysis

Skills

  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow, particularly application portfolio and service management capabilities
  • Good understanding of IT service management concepts including services, applications, and configuration management
  • Ability to analyze portfolio and service data and provide clear insights to stakeholders
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to drive collaboration and governance across multiple teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in large enterprise or global IT environments

Familiarity with ServiceNow APM, CMDB, or service mapping concepts

Exposure to enterprise architecture capability models or business capability mapping

Experience supporting application rationalization or modernization initiatives

Certifications such as ITIL or ServiceNow APM are beneficial but not required
