Senior Django Engineer - Job Description
Location: Remote (India) Employment Type: Full-time Salary Range: 24-30 LPA Reports To: Sr. Director, Product Innovation
About the Role
We are building an AI-powered recruitment automation platform that transforms how companies source, evaluate, and hire talent.
The platform handles the full recruitment lifecycle - from job role parsing and resume processing through candidate matching,
screening, and hiring manager workflows - using a combination of Django, Celery, PostgreSQL, and LLM-powered intelligence.
We are looking for a Senior Django Engineer who can independently architect and deliver complex features with minimal
guidance. This is not a role where you will be given detailed specifications and asked to implement - you will be expected to
understand business context, make product-level decisions, and translate requirements into well-designed, maintainable systems.
What You Will Do
Architect and build end-to-end features across a multi-app Django codebase following domain-driven design principles
Own features from ideation through delivery - understanding the "why" behind requirements, not just the "how"
Design and implement data models, service layers, background task pipelines, and server-rendered UI
Work with PostgreSQL extensively - complex queries, migrations, indexing, and performance optimization
Build and maintain Celery-based async processing for AI/ML pipelines and data-intensive workflows
Write tests as part of your development workflow, not as an afterthought
Review code with a critical eye - whether written by teammates or generated by AI tools
Collaborate with the team on architectural decisions and contribute to long-term product strategy
What We Are Looking For
Must Have
5-8 years of professional experience with Python and Django
Deep Django expertise - ORM (complex querysets, annotations, prefetch strategies), class-based views, migrations,
template engine, middleware, management commands
PostgreSQL proficiency - schema design, query optimization, indexing, constraints
Celery / async processing - task design, retries, idempotency, error handling, monitoring
Exceptional problem-solving ability - you break down ambiguous problems into structured solutions, identify edge cases
early, and think through failure modes before they happen
Independent feature ownership - proven track record of delivering complex, multi-component features end-to-end without
hand-holding
Strong code review instincts - you catch design issues, security gaps, and maintainability concerns, not just syntax errors
Testing discipline - you write meaningful tests (unit, integration) as part of your workflow
Git workflow proficiency - clean branching, meaningful commits, PR-based collaboration
Fast learner - you pick up new tools, concepts, and domains quickly and apply them effectively
Good to Have
Experience with AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) - ability to direct AI assistants effectively and
critically evaluate their output
Familiarity with HTMX or server-rendered frontend approaches (we prefer minimal JavaScript)
Experience with LLM/AI integrations (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, embeddings, vector search)
Exposure to Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment (Azure preferred)
Experience with recruitment, HR-tech, or SaaS product development
Familiarity with domain-driven design and modular Django application architecture
What Sets You Apart
You think in systems, not just features - you consider how today's decision affects next quarter's architecture
You ask "why" before "how" - understanding the business problem before jumping into code
You are comfortable with ambiguity - you can take a loosely defined requirement and turn it into a concrete, well-scoped
implementation plan
You take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks - if something breaks or doesn't meet expectations, you fix it without being
asked
You make the team better - through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and raising the bar on quality
Interview Process
1. Resume & portfolio review
2. Technical conversation - architecture, Django deep-dive, problem-solving discussion
3. Practical assessment - a real-world feature design and implementation exercise, including working with AI coding tools to
evaluate critical thinking and code review ability
4. Team fit conversation - collaboration style, communication, ownership mindset
Why Join Us
Work on a product that is redefining recruitment through AI - not incremental improvements, but ground-up innovation
High ownership, low bureaucracy - your decisions shape the product directly
Remote-first team that values delivery and quality over hours logged
Opportunity to work at the intersection of Django engineering and AI/LLM applications
Collaborative environment where strong engineering is recognized and rewarded
Location: Remote (India) Employment Type: Full-time Salary Range: 24-30 LPA Reports To: Sr. Director, Product Innovation
