Job Description

Alliance University invites applications for faculty positions in Quantum Computing at the level of Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor for AU-QUASAR . The faculty member will contribute to teaching, research, curriculum development, laboratory development, student mentoring, sponsored projects, and academic administration in the area of quantum computing and allied domains . The role is intended for academicians and researchers with strong expertise in quantum computing, quantum information science, quantum algorithms, quantum software, quantum hardware systems, or adjacent interdisciplinary areas , and with the ability to build a high-quality academic and research ecosystem aligned with the School’s deep-tech vision. Key Responsibilities: 1) Teaching & Academic Delivery Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in Quantum Computing and related areas. Design and deliver courses such as: Introduction to Quantum Computing Quantum Mechanics for Computing Quantum Algorithms Quantum Information Theory Quantum Programming and Simulation Quantum Machine Learning Quantum Error Correction Quantum Cryptography / Post-Quantum Cryptography Linear Algebra, Probability, Optimization, and Mathematical Foundations relevant to quantum systems Develop course outlines, lesson plans, assessments, lab exercises, project-based learning modules, and capstone experiences. Integrate theory with practical learning using simulators, cloud quantum platforms, and available quantum hardware ecosystems . Guide students in mini-projects, major projects, hackathons, innovation challenges, and research internships. 2) Research & Scholarly Contributions Undertake high-quality research in Quantum Computing and related areas , leading to publications in reputed peer-reviewed / indexed journals and conferences . Build a focused research agenda in areas such as: Quantum Algorithms and Complexity Quantum Optimization Quantum Machine Learning Quantum Communications / Quantum Cryptography Quantum Software Engineering Quantum Systems Architecture Hybrid Quantum-Classical Computing Error Mitigation / Error Correction Quantum Applications in Healthcare, Finance, Materials, Logistics, Security, and AI Apply for sponsored research grants, consultancy assignments, and collaborative research projects with government agencies, research labs, and industry. Contribute to patents, technology disclosures, prototypes, open-source tools, white papers, and translational research outputs . Establish and strengthen interdisciplinary research collaborations within the University and with external organizations. 3) Curriculum & Program Development Support the design and continuous enhancement of Quantum Computing curriculum in line with emerging global academic and industry trends. Contribute to new course development, specialization pathways, interdisciplinary electives, and experiential learning modules . Benchmark curriculum against leading global institutions, quantum research centres, and industry requirements . Assist in designing outcome-based learning frameworks, rubrics, and academic quality standards . 4) Laboratory & Research Ecosystem Development Contribute to the establishment and strengthening of Quantum Computing labs, simulation environments, and research facilities within AU-QUASAR. Support the setup, utilization, and academic integration of quantum software platforms, toolkits, and cloud-based quantum resources . Develop lab manuals, use cases, datasets, coding assignments, and experimentation frameworks for student and research use. Promote a hands-on, innovation-driven learning environment with exposure to real-world quantum workflows. 5) Student Mentoring & Academic Support Mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in academic progression, research, projects, innovation, entrepreneurship, and career development . Supervise dissertations, theses, independent studies, and student research outputs . Support student participation in conferences, coding competitions, publications, and startup / incubation initiatives . Act as faculty advisor / mentor for student clubs, research groups, and deep-tech initiatives related to quantum technologies. 6) Industry Collaboration & Outreach Build partnerships with quantum computing companies, research organizations, startups, and technology platforms for: Internships Live projects Guest lectures Joint research Labs / infrastructure support Curriculum inputs Contribute to executive education, workshops, FDPs, bootcamps, conclaves, and outreach initiatives in the area of quantum technologies. Represent AU-QUASAR in academic, industry, and research forums to strengthen institutional visibility and collaborations. 7) Institutional & Administrative Responsibilities Participate in academic administration, accreditation documentation, departmental reviews, committee responsibilities, and quality assurance processes . Support admissions-related activities, faculty interactions, school events, open houses, and branding initiatives , where required. Contribute to institutional development, strategic initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaborations across Alliance University. Areas of Expertise Preferred candidates may have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Quantum Computing Quantum Information Science Quantum Algorithms Quantum Machine Learning Quantum Cryptography / Post-Quantum Cryptography Quantum Software and Programming Frameworks Quantum Hardware Systems and Architectures Hybrid Quantum-Classical Computing Quantum Error Correction and Error Mitigation Optimization, Computational Mathematics, and AI applications relevant to quantum systems Qualification & Experience For Assistant Professor Ph.D. in Quantum Computing / Quantum Information Science / Computer Science / Artificial Intelligence / Computational Science or a closely related discipline from a reputed institution. Strong academic record with relevant teaching / research potential in Quantum Computing or allied areas . Demonstrated research capability through publications, thesis work, projects, or research experience in the relevant domain. Candidates who have submitted their doctoral thesis in a highly relevant area may also be considered, subject to University norms. For Associate Professor / Professor Ph.D. in a relevant discipline from a reputed institution with a strong record of teaching, research, funded projects, and academic leadership . Significant scholarly output in reputed peer-reviewed / indexed journals and conferences in quantum computing or related domains. Proven ability to lead research, build curriculum, mentor faculty and students, and contribute to institutional development . Experience in sponsored projects, industry collaboration, interdisciplinary research, and laboratory / centre development will be preferred. Essential Skills & Competencies Strong conceptual and applied understanding of quantum computing and allied computational foundations . Ability to teach interdisciplinary learners from computing, mathematics, electronics, AI, and engineering backgrounds . Research orientation with evidence of publication potential / output . Familiarity with relevant tools, platforms, or frameworks in the quantum ecosystem . Strong communication, mentoring, and academic writing skills. Ability to work in a research-driven, fast-evolving deep-tech academic environment . Collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to institution building . Desirable Profile Exposure to quantum programming frameworks, quantum cloud platforms, and simulation environments . Experience in interdisciplinary teaching integrating AI, optimization, cybersecurity, mathematics, or physics with quantum computing. Experience in sponsored projects, consulting, industry collaboration, or innovation / incubation ecosystems . International academic / research exposure, postdoctoral work, or collaboration with premier institutions / labs will be an added advantage.
