About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core platform services that support multiple product and feature teams.
- Develop highly scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant backend systems capable of handling large-scale workloads.
- Architect and implement distributed services, APIs, and foundational frameworks that enable rapid feature development across the organisation.
- Build and optimise systems for high-throughput data ingestion, aggregation, processing, and retrieval.
- Drive improvements in platform performance, reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to define and deliver scalable platform capabilities.
- Contribute to technical architecture, engineering standards, and long-term platform strategy.
- Mentor engineers and actively participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions.
- Investigate and resolve complex production issues while continuously improving system resilience and maintainability.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale backend applications and distributed systems.
- Strong expertise in designing and operating scalable, highly available backend services.
- Experience working with large datasets and building systems that process millions of records efficiently.
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language, with Python/Java preferred.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and performance optimisation.
- Experience designing complex business workflows and platform services that support multiple downstream consumers.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Experience building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and data processing systems.
Familiarity with data aggregation, transformation, and analytics workloads.
Experience with event-driven architectures, streaming platforms, or workflow orchestration systems.
Experience building shared platform capabilities, frameworks, or foundational services used by multiple engineering teams.
