About The Job:
- We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Backend Engineer to design, develop, and support high-performance enterprise platforms that enable scalable accounting, financial processing, and analytics capabilities across global operations.
- The ideal candidate will possess strong backend engineering expertise in Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, real-time event processing, data platforms, and modern software engineering practices.
- The role involves working within an agile environment to deliver business-critical solutions supporting BlackRock's investment and operational platforms.
Essential Job Functions:
Application Design & Development
- Design and develop robust, scalable, and high-performance backend services using Java 11+ and Spring Boot.
- Build and maintain enterprise-grade REST APIs and microservices architectures.
- Design and implement event-driven solutions to process and distribute large-scale financial data.
- Participate in architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and code review activities.
- Ensure applications meet performance, scalability, availability, and security requirements.
- Develop and maintain production-ready software following clean architecture and engineering best practices.
Data Engineering & Integration
- Develop data integration frameworks and pipelines across Snowflake, SQL Server, and distributed platforms.
- Support large-scale data movement, transformation, and analytics initiatives.
- Design and optimize SQL Server databases including schema design, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
- Implement and manage Redis-based solutions for caching and low-latency data access.
- Build real-time streaming and event-processing solutions using Kafka and publish-subscribe architectures.
- Support ETL, streaming, and batch processing workloads.
Engineering Excellence
- Champion software engineering best practices including code quality, testing, automation, and observability.
- Perform performance analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization activities.
- Contribute to CI/CD and automation initiatives.
- Support production applications and ensure operational stability.
- Drive innovation in software design, architecture, and development processes.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead technical discussions, architecture decisions, and solution design activities.
- Mentor and guide engineers on coding standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, Data, and Engineering teams to deliver business-critical capabilities.
- Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and influence technology direction across teams.
Emerging Technologies
- Contribute to data analytics and modern data platform initiatives involving Snowflake, Kafka, and Redis.
- Work with Agentic Coding concepts and develop understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Explore and support AI-driven engineering practices including Prompt Engineering and Agentic AI capabilities.
Qualifications:
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Expertise in Java and Object-Oriented Design.
