Job Description: - Corporate Planning & Management (CPM), Engineering CFO

The Corporate Planning & Management (CPM) Division unifies Finance & Planning, Spend Management, Operational Risk and Resilience, and CPM Engineering teams to deliver business planning and analytics, expense management, third party risk management, and governance strategies across the firm. CPM have 5 operating pillars. Finance & Planning supports the execution of the firm's strategic objectives through the management of the planning process, firmwide reporting and analytics and insights into the firm's business plans and budgets. They develop consistent framework for revenue division projections creating transparency, accountability and efficiency around projections. This pillar also includes the CF&O, EO and Engineering divisional CFOs, who are strategic finance advisors helping the firm and the non-revenue divisions achieve commercial financial opportunities. Product Finance is responsible for the overall governance and proactive management of the firm's non-compensation expenses. Spend Management encompasses the functions responsible for managing all aspects of the firm's spend with third parties - advising commercial agreements and driving operating efficiency. Departments include Strategic Sourcing, Procure to Pay, Integrated Travel and Expense, Infrastructure and Transformation and Sustainable Operations. Operational Risk & Resilience drives firmwide Operational Risk programs along with second line teams and implements required changes within CPM. The Corporate Insurance & Advisory team in this pillar identifies, procures, and manages corporate insurance needs for the firm and its investing businesses. The CPM Engineering team provides engineering solutions that enable the firm to manage third-party spend, data and automation, plan budgets, forecast financial scenarios, allocate expenses and support corporate decision making in-line with the firm's strategic objectives.

Role Overview

As an Analyst / Senior Analyst in Corporate Planning & Management (CPM) - Engineering CFO, you will play a key execution-focused role in supporting the financial governance of the firm's engineering investment portfolio. Operating at the intersection of finance, engineering, and data analytics, you will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of financial planning processes, data analysis, and reporting across a multi-billion-dollar technology spend base.

In this role, you will support the Zero Based Budgeting (ZBB) lifecycle for engineering, helping to track, analyze, and report on budgets and actuals. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams and divisional finance colleagues to ensure that technology investments are accurately tracked and aligned with firmwide financial guardrails. Additionally, you will focus on developing a granular understanding of emerging AI infrastructure and operational costs, establishing robust reporting frameworks to track and analyze AI-related spend.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investment Governance & ZBB Support
    • Execute day-to-day ZBB processes, including data collection, template management, and analytical support for engineering portfolio reviews.
    • Assist in preparing materials and data packages that justify and prioritize engineering investments.
  • Financial Tracking & Portfolio Analysis
    • Track and analyze budgets versus actuals across engineering spend categories, including public cloud, infrastructure, and software.
    • Perform detailed variance analyses to identify spend trends, risks, and efficiency opportunities.
  • AI Cost Analysis & Reporting
    • Develop a foundational understanding of AI cost drivers, including compute resources, model training, API usage, and specialized hardware.
    • Build, maintain, and distribute regular reports and dashboards to track, analyze, and visualize AI-related expenditures.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Partner directly with engineering teams and finance colleagues to gather financial inputs, clarify cost allocations, and support budget justification processes.
    • Act as a reliable point of contact for routine financial queries from engineering stakeholders.
  • Cost Transparency & Allocation
    • Support the governance of key cost drivers by maintaining and updating cost allocation models.
    • Help improve cost transparency by mapping infrastructure and cloud consumption data to specific business applications and services.
  • Process & Reporting Innovation
    • Support the enhancement of financial planning tools, dashboards, and reporting templates.
    • Assist in leveraging data analytics and automation tools to streamline routine reporting and improve data integrity.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, business analysis, or engineering finance.
  • Education: CA, MBA Finance or equivalent degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related quantitative field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., complex formulas, data manipulation, financial modeling).
    • Experience with, or a strong aptitude to quickly learn, enterprise planning tools (e.g., Anaplan) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
    • Familiarity with SQL or basic data analysis scripting is a plus.
  • Domain Knowledge:
    • Basic understanding of technology cost drivers (cloud, infrastructure, software) and allocation frameworks.
    • Strong interest in or familiarity with AI technologies and their associated infrastructure cost structures.
  • Professional Attributes:
    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
    • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a challenging environment.
