Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced API Functional Tester with 5+ years of hands-on experience in API testing and functional validation. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in understanding product requirements, analyzing user stories, designing comprehensive API test scenarios, and validating REST APIs. The candidate should be comfortable working in an Agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and interacting directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand product requirements, business workflows, and user stories to design effective API test scenarios.
• Perform end-to-end API Functional Testing using tools such as Postman, Swagger, or similar.
• Design, execute, and maintain API test cases covering positive, negative, boundary, and error-handling scenarios.
• Validate API request/response payloads, status codes, headers, authentication, and business rules.
• Perform response schema validation and verify backend data using SQL queries where applicable.
• Identify, log, track, and retest defects through their lifecycle using defect management tools.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Work independently while effectively coordinating with global teams and client stakeholders.
• Provide regular test execution updates, risks, and quality metrics to project stakeholders.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in API Functional Testing.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, request/response validation, and authentication mechanisms (Bearer Token, OAuth, JWT, API Keys).
• Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman, Swagger, or SOAP UI.
• Experience in designing API test scenarios from business requirements and user stories.
• Good knowledge of JSON, XML, and API response validation.
• Strong SQL skills for backend data validation.
• Good understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and defect lifecycle.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and directly with client stakeholders.
• Experience working in a global delivery environment.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of API automation tools such as REST Assured or similar frameworks.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Git, or Jenkins.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
