Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the application packaging team in delivering high-quality, standardized packages for Windows environments.
- Manage and prioritize packaging requests, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with organizational standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including application owners, infrastructure teams, and service desk to gather requirements and resolve issues.
- Design and implement packaging strategies using tools such as MSI, App-V, Intune, SCCM, and PowerShell.
- Perform quality assurance and testing of packages in UAT and production environments.
- Maintain documentation for packaging standards, procedures, and knowledge base and
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior packaging engineers.
- Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and change management policies.
- Continuously evaluate and improve packaging processes and automation opportunities.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports for application deployment status, success/failure rates, and compliance metrics.
- Use tools such as Power BI, Excel, and SCCM/Intune reporting features to generate insights.
- Automate report generation and distribution for stakeholders.
- Monitor KPIs and SLAs related to software packaging and deployment, performance.
- Identify trends and areas for improvement through data analysis.
Technical Skills Required
Packaging & Deployment Tools:
- MSI, MST, App-V, MSIX
- Flexera Admi Studio, Numecent Cloud Paging, Smart Package Studio, Apptimized, Ivanti DSM.
- Microsoft Intune, MAM, MDM, SCCM (ConfigMgr), Active Directory Group Policies
- VMware ThinApp, Citrix App Layering (optional)
Scripting & Automation:
- PowerShell (advanced scripting)
- VBScript (legacy support)
- Batch scripting
- Experience with automation tools like AutoIT or Chocolatey
Operating Systems & Platforms:
- Windows 10/11, Windows Server
- Experience with macOS packaging (optional)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and endpoint management
Version Control & CI/CD:
- Git, GitHub/GitLab
- Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines for software deployment
Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Process Monitor, Event Viewer, Dependency Walker
- Application compatibility testing tools
Documentation & Collaboration:
- Confluence, SharePoint, Jira, ServiceNow
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in application packaging and deployment.
- Strong hands-on experience with MSI, App-V, Intune, SCCM, PowerShell scripting.
- Familiarity with Windows OS internals, registry, and file system behavior.
- Experience with virtualization and cloud-based deployment models.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience in leading teams or mentoring peers is highly desirable.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Endpoint Administrator, ITIL, Azure Fundamentals) are a plus.
