Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Perform cost estimation, budgeting, and cost planning during pre-construction and execution phases.
  • Apply International Rules of Measurement (IRM) standards for quantity surveying and measurement.
  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, and contract documents to prepare detailed estimates.
  • Monitor project costs, variations, and change orders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support tender preparation, bid evaluations, and commercial analysis.
  • Coordinate with engineering, design, procurement, and project management teams to ensure cost accuracy.
  • Prepare cost reports, valuations, and financial progress reports.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, and industry standards.
  • Contribute to cost optimization and value engineering initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Quantity Surveying principles and construction cost management.
  • Hands-on experience with CostX software.
  • Good understanding of International Rules of Measurement (IRM), including:
    • SMM7 (Standard Method of Measurement 7)
    • NRM (New Rules of Measurement)
    • POMI (Principles of Measurement International)
    • CESMM (Civil Engineering Standard Method of Measurement)
  • Knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, and cost estimation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, contracts, and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other estimation tools.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working on international construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Exposure to pre-construction BOQ preparation.
  • Knowledge of cost planning, tendering, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with digital construction tools and data-driven project management practices.
