Design Lead - Interior Lighting

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Design Lead - Interior Lighting to drive the design and development of automotive interior lighting systems. The role involves leading component development activities, coordinating with cross-functional teams and suppliers, and ensuring products meet performance, quality, cost, and timing targets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive interior lighting components and systems.
• Manage packaging, manufacturability, assembly feasibility, and design validation activities.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and global engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Review and approve design documentation, technical specifications, DFMEA, DVP&R, and release deliverables.
• Support CAD model reviews, design releases, and engineering change activities.
• Collaborate with simulation teams to achieve lighting performance, functional, and quality requirements.
• Drive product development milestones, testing coordination, and issue resolution.
• Ensure compliance with project timelines, technical standards, and customer requirements.

Qualifications

B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech in Automotive/Mechanical/Production Engg.

Essential skills

• 6 to 8 years of experience in automotive interior lighting design and development.
• Experience with ambient lighting, task lighting, overhead console lighting, or similar interior lighting systems.
• Strong understanding of component and system-level product development.
• Knowledge of lighting optics, light performance, and validation processes.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as CATIA or Siemens NX (UG).
• Experience with PLM systems and engineering release processes.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, injection molding, and assembly feasibility.
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers, global teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
