Senior Database Solution Architect - MS SQL

The Senior Database Solution Architect will serve as a technical leader supporting enterprise customers and internal teams through solution design, demonstrations, consulting, and strategic guidance.

• Act as a subject matter expert in database workloads, data protection, and data security solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Partner with customers and prospects to understand business objectives and design technical strategies aligned with their data management needs.
• Lead technical demonstrations, workshops, presentations, and solution discussions for technical teams, database administrators, and executive stakeholders.
• Support customer engagements within North American time zones, including availability during US Eastern Time working hours.
• Design, execute, and troubleshoot proof-of-concepts (POCs) to validate solutions and support successful customer outcomes.
• Develop technical proposals, white papers, and responses to RFPs/RFIs.
• Translate complex customer requirements into scalable and actionable architecture recommendations.
• Identify technical challenges during sales cycles and create effective solutions to overcome adoption barriers.
• Collaborate with product management and engineering teams by providing customer insights and feedback to influence product development.
• Stay informed on industry trends across database technologies, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and data protection.
• Provide competitive intelligence and technical insights to support business strategy and customer success.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in enterprise database technologies, solution architecture, and customer-facing technical roles, with strong analytical and communication skills.

• 10+ years of experience in customer-facing technical sales, consulting, or solution architecture roles focused on enterprise database technologies and cloud environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server architecture, including high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), and log shipping.
• Strong experience designing and managing cloud database solutions, including Azure SQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Amazon RDS/Aurora, or Google Cloud SQL.
• Working knowledge of NoSQL and distributed databases such as MongoDB and Apache Cassandra.
• Familiarity with relational database platforms including Oracle, IBM DB2, Informix, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with containerized database environments and modern cloud infrastructure technologies.
• Proficiency in scripting or automation languages such as Python, PowerShell, Go, or JavaScript.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and design scalable solutions.
• Experience conducting system benchmarks, performance testing, and enterprise environment assessments is preferred.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both engineering teams and C-level executives.
• Strong collaboration skills with sales, engineering, product, and customer-facing teams.
• Experience with data center technologies, cloud platforms, data security solutions, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), or virtualization technologies.
• Self-driven, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
• Willingness to travel up to approximately 20% for customer meetings and onsite engagements.
