Solution Architect (Information Technology)
Overview
As a Solution Architect at Linesight, you will work with highly experienced, culturally diverse, and passionate teams nurturing a strong social dynamic and a shared sense of achievement. You will gain vast industry experience that will open doors for you, extend your skillset and expand your perspective. We will empower, support, and enable you to take real responsibility in your role so that you can take charge of your career progression with us. For us lasting trusted relationships are everything, both with our teams and our clients.
We are looking for a developing Solution Architect who enjoys design work, stakeholder engagement, and turning delivery activity into supportable services. This role is suited to someone who has already contributed to solution designs and wants to further build their architecture career across cloud, service transition, vendor delivery, and operational readiness. It is not a hands-on engineering role; the focus is on design quality by ensuring effective documentation, governance, vendor engagement, and ensuring new services can be successfully supported after go-live by effective design.
The Opportunity
In this role you will:
- Support the design of new IT services across the full delivery lifecycle, from requirements and design through to build review, release readiness, handover, and early-life support.
- Embed non-functional requirements into solution designs, including availability, capacity, performance, security, monitoring, disaster recovery, recoverability, etc.
- Produce, review, and maintain design documentation, ensuring solutions are clearly described, traceable to requirements, and suitable for transition into IT support.
- Produce and review architecture artefacts including solution designs, architecture diagrams, and design decisions to support delivery and operational readiness.
- Assess vendor and internal delivery artefacts to confirm alignment with approved designs, cloud standards, security expectations, and operational requirements.
- Review handover materials, including operational documentation, monitoring and alerting requirements, service mapping, support models, and service readiness artefacts.
- Support the preparation, as the design SME, the release readiness packs, support hypercare planning, manage hypercare exit criteria, and ensure a clean handover to IT Support.
- Participate in CCoE, CAB, design reviews, release readiness reviews, post-incident reviews, and other governance forums.
- Act as the interlock between functional teams, product owners, vendors, internal subject matter experts, and IT support teams.
- Support incident and problem management where design input is required, helping identify whether issues relate to design gaps, documentation gaps, integration issues, or weak handover.
- Contribute to policies, procedures, and delivery standards with the Enterprise Architect and Data Architect, with a focus on making them practical and usable across delivery and support.
- Improve delivery and handover practices by supporting the standardising of templates,
- improving documentation quality, and raising the operability of new IT services.
- Ensure knowledge capture, clear service mapping, and up-to-date documentation in agreed repositories.
We would love to hear from you if you:
- Have 5 to 8 years' experience primarily in solution architecture, technical design, or a developing Solution Architect type roles.
- Can show evidence of producing, contributing to, or reviewing solution designs, architecture diagrams, and design documentation, rather than solely delivering hands-on engineering activity, plus can show understanding of the importance of traceable designs, support models, runbooks, monitoring requirements, service mapping, and clean handover into operational teams.
- Have good Azure cloud knowledge, including integration patterns, security, and operational support considerations.
- Have experience working across the delivery lifecycle, including requirements, design documentation, vendor engagement, build review, release readiness, handover, and early-life support.
- Can engage well with vendors, product owners, functional teams, architects, support teams, and technical subject matter experts.
- Can challenge constructively when requirements are unclear, documentation is incomplete, or a solution is not ready to transition into support.
- Are detail-oriented, quality-focused, and comfortable assessing whether documentation is complete, understandable, and fit for delivery & support use.
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and can explain design decisions in plain language
Nice to have:
- Have or are working towards relevant cloud certifications, ideally Azure certifications such as AZ-305 or equivalent cloud certifications
- Have knowledge of other Cloud Hosting platforms such as Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services
- Have experience using Jira and Confluence, and/or Azure DevOps, to track delivery activity, document decisions, manage actions, and maintain knowledge.
- Ideally have familiarity with security and compliance practices such as ISO 27001.
- Have working knowledge of Azure FinOps & Policy Management
- Exposure to Oracle, Salesforce, SAP, or other enterprise SaaS platforms and enterprise integration patterns, or middleware platforms.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, or modern cloud delivery practices.
All interviews are conducted either in person or virtually with video required.
