About The Job:
- We are seeking an experienced Underwriter Trainer with strong expertise in US Mortgage Underwriting to design, develop, and deliver training programs for underwriting professionals.
- The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Agency and Non-Agency mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, compliance requirements, and mortgage risk assessment.
- The role will be responsible for onboarding new hires, conducting process and product training, driving capability development, and ensuring operational excellence through effective learning interventions.
- Experience: Minimum 5 Years
Essential Job Functions:
- Deliver classroom, virtual, and on-the-job training programs for US Mortgage Underwriting teams.
- Design and develop training content, process maps, SOPs, job aids, assessments, and certification programs.
- Conduct new hire training and ensure smooth transition to production.
- Facilitate refresher training sessions based on quality findings, process changes, and client requirements.
- Train employees on loan products including Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo, and Non-QM loans.
- Educate teams on underwriting fundamentals, credit analysis, income calculations, asset review, collateral assessment, and risk evaluation.
- Ensure training adherence to Client, FHLMC, FHA, VA, investor, and regulatory guidelines.
- Evaluate trainee performance through assessments, audits, mock underwriting exercises, and certifications.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Leadership teams to identify skill gaps and implement targeted learning plans.
- Track training effectiveness through productivity, quality, and compliance metrics.
- Support process improvement and knowledge management initiatives.
- Stay updated on industry changes, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory updates.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in US Mortgage Underwriting.
- At least 1 year of experience in Training, Mentoring, Quality, SME, or Coaching role preferred.

- Conventional Mortgages
- FHA, VA, and USDA Loans
- Jumbo Loans
- Non-QM Loans
- Agency and Investor Guidelines
- Credit Analysis
- Income Calculation and Verification

- Compliance and Quality Standards
- Experience reviewing and underwriting residential mortgage loan files.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Ability to create engaging and effective learning programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Mortgage underwriting certifications preferred.
- Experience handling offshore mortgage operations.
- Exposure to quality control, audit, or compliance functions.
- Knowledge of adult learning methodologies and training best practices.
