Senior Java Developer
Position Overview:
Anaqua is seeking a Senior Java Developer to take ownership of core backend services on theRightHubplatform - our distributed, domain-driven Java platform on Google Cloud Platform that powers IP management for enterprises and law firms worldwide. This is a hands-on senior role where you will own services end-to-end, design domain events and the integrations between services, extend the shared platform libraries every service depends on, and set the technical bar for the engineers around you. You should be an excellent team player with strongdistributed-systemsinstincts,a track recordof mentoring, and the seniority to make architectural calls that hold up under load. If you love modern Java done properly, real ownership over your scope, working alongside strong senior peers, and solving complex problems at enterprise scale, Anaqua is looking for you!
You'lllove this job if you like to:
- Own services end-to-end on a modernJava + Spring Bootplatform - design, implementation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Design domain events and the integrations between services - event types, processors, idempotency, and eventual-consistency boundaries.
- Extend the shared platform libraries - auth, async tasks, common infrastructure - that every service in the company depends on.
- Write code that is genuinely tested - strong unit, integration, and contract testing as part of the development loop, not an afterthought.
- Drive performance and reliability work, including queryoptimisation, debugging distributed flows, and capacity planning.
- Raise the engineering bar through code review, technical design docs, and mentoring mid-level engineers.
- Work across a modern stack:Java (latest LTS), Spring Boot 3.x, Spring Cloud GCP, Kubernetes (GKE), PostgreSQL with a domain-event model, and contract-first APIs withOpenAPI.
- Work closely with frontend engineers on the Next.js application when shippingfeatures thatcross the boundary.
Whatyou'llneed to be successful:
- 5+ years of senior-level Java engineering with proven production ownership - you have built and operated services that real users depend on.
- Strong Spring Boot in production - fluent on transactional boundaries, connection pools, classpathissues, JVM tuning, and how thingsactually breakunder load.
- Distributed-systemsthinking - async messaging, idempotency, retries, ordering, eventual consistency, and clean bounded contexts.
- Comfortable with event-sourcing design patterns
- Comfort with domain-driven design - designing domain events that capture state transitions, writing event processors, and reasoning about event history alongside current state.
- Contract-first API design withOpenAPIor equivalent - you treat the schema as the source of truth.
- Deep PostgreSQL - schema design, indexing, query plans, and migrations under load.
- Production experience running services on Kubernetes - deployments, manifestsor Helm, debugging in production.
- Hands-on experience with a major public cloud (GCP preferred; AWS or Azure with willingness to move to GCP).
- Strong testing discipline - comfortable writing andmaintainingunit, integration, and contract tests as part of normal development.
- Extensive experience converting business requirements to technical requirements.
- Track recordof mentoring and raising the engineering bar around you.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Spring Cloud GCP, Cloud Pub/Sub, or Cloud Run inproductiona plus but notrequired.
- Experience building reusable internal libraries or Spring Boot starters used by otherteamsa plus but notrequired.
- Working knowledge of React or Next.js a plus but notrequired.
