We are looking for a highly technical and hands-on Web Development Manager to lead the day-to-day execution of a web development team while continuing to contribute directly to complex development projects.

This role combines technical leadership, people management, architecture, and hands-on development. You will work closely with the Director of Technology and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality ecommerce experiences, custom web applications, internal platforms, AI initiatives, and operational tools.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys building as much as leading-capable of mentoring developers, setting strong engineering standards, solving complex technical challenges, and ensuring projects are delivered on time without compromising quality.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day execution and delivery of the web development team.
• Act as the technical second-in-command to the technology leadership team.
• Architect, develop, and maintain Shopify storefronts, custom web applications, and internal platforms.
• Remain hands-on with complex development initiatives and contribute directly to critical technical projects.
• Review code and establish strong engineering standards, development practices, and coding quality across the team.
• Mentor and develop engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
• Estimate project effort, define timelines, prioritize development work, and manage delivery schedules.
• Collaborate closely with creative, marketing, ecommerce, product, operations, and leadership teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across websites, applications, integrations, and internal systems.
• Improve website performance, scalability, reliability, security, and user experience.
• Design, build, and maintain APIs and third-party integrations across ecommerce, CRM, ERP, marketing, and other business platforms.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows and improve operational efficiency through technology.
• Maintain technical documentation, development standards, architectural guidelines, and best practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve products, engineering workflows, and business processes.
• Ensure projects are delivered within agreed timelines while maintaining high standards of quality, reliability, and maintainability.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 7+ years of professional web development experience, with proven experience taking technical ownership of complex web projects.
• Previous experience leading, mentoring, or managing web development teams.
• Strong hands-on expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Strong experience with React and modern frontend frameworks.
• Deep understanding of Shopify development and Liquid.
• Experience building custom applications, ecommerce solutions, and API integrations.
• Strong understanding of databases, backend architecture, cloud services, and scalable web systems.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, version control, and modern software development workflows.
• Strong knowledge of web performance optimization, scalability, security, and reliability.
• Experience integrating ecommerce platforms with CRMs, ERPs, marketing platforms, and other third-party systems.
• Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, architectural thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance hands-on development with technical leadership and team management.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
