Lead DevOps Engineer (Python, DevOps & Cloud)

Team Context

The SRE team is a core engineering squad responsible for building, scaling, and operating the CI/CD platform ecosystem that powers software delivery across the organization.

The team focuses on platform engineering, automation, and reliability of developer tooling, enabling teams to deliver faster through standardized, scalable, and cloud-ready CI/CD infrastructure.

We work closely with development, infrastructure, and cloud teams to design and operate highly available, automated, self-service CI/CD platforms using DevOps and SRE principles.

Your Responsibilities

DevOps Platform Engineering

• Design, build, and manage scalable CI/CD infrastructure supporting enterprise-wide delivery pipelines.
• Develop reusable infrastructure modules and automation frameworks using Terraform and Ansible.
• Build and maintain GitHub Actions-based CI/CD frameworks for standardized pipelines.
• Enable self-service platform capabilities for development teams (pipeline templates, reusable workflows).
• Design, operate, and improve Kubernetes-based platform capabilities for scalable, resilient, and secure CI/CD workloads.

Cloud & Infrastructure Automation

• Design and manage infrastructure across cloud environments (AWS/Azure/Private Cloud Platforms).
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices for provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Optimize infrastructure for scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Build automated workflows for environment provisioning, updates, and teardown.
• Build and manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes, including deployment automation, configuration, and lifecycle management.

Python Development & Automation

• Develop automation tools, integrations, and utilities using Python.
• Build platform services and APIs that enhance CI/CD workflows and developer experience.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks and reduce manual intervention through scripting and tooling.

CI/CD & Toolchain Engineering

• Configure, integrate, and operate tools such as:
  • GitHub / GitHub Actions
  • Jenkins (optional/legacy)
  • Artifact repositories (e.g., Artifactory)
  • Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and container registry integrations
• Design secure and efficient pipeline architectures (build, test, deploy).
• Implement and support GitOps practices where applicable.
• Troubleshoot pipeline and infrastructure issues with focus on availability and performance.

Reliability & Operational Excellence

• Apply SRE principles to improve platform reliability, availability, and scalability.
• Define and track SLIs/SLOs for CI/CD platform services.
• Build observability solutions (logs, metrics, alerts) for proactive monitoring.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive improvements.

Collaboration & Enablement

• Partner with engineering teams to onboard applications onto CI/CD platforms.
• Define best practices, standards, and reusable patterns for DevOps adoption.
• Mentor engineers and promote automation-first and platform engineering mindset.
• Maintain clear documentation for tools, infrastructure, and workflows.

  • Experience building and scaling CI/CD systems and pipelines

  • Strong knowledge of IaC and automation patterns
  • Strong understanding of container orchestration, Kubernetes resource management, Helm-based packaging, and GitOps deployment patterns

Good to Have Skills

• Cloud platforms: AWS / Azure / Private Cloud

Core Engineering Skills

• Strong understanding of Linux systems and distributed environments
• Deep practical knowledge of Docker, containerization principles, Kubernetes architecture, and cloud-native deployment patterns
• Experience designing highly available and scalable platforms
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
• Familiarity with secure DevOps practices

Experience Expectations

Candidates should have 5-10 years of experience in:

• Building and managing CI/CD platforms at scale
• Implementing DevOps practices in cloud or hybrid environments
• Developing automation tools using Python
• Managing infrastructure using Terraform and configuration management tools
• Deploying, operating, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters and Docker-based container platforms in production or enterprise environments
• Working in platform engineering or SRE teams
