Mechanical Engineer - Specialist
Primary Responsibilities
- Investigate production equipment solutions and develop new or modify existing equipment designs
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and design documentation
- Design, develop and implement mechanical equipment and tools, layouts and simulation models
- Develop and maintain standards within the virtual area
- Coordinate with manufacturing, production, quality and ergonomics team for tool development activities and input collection.
- Contact with suppliers on digital model issues, manufacturability of tools and other requirements collection and align with the same.
Authorities
- Escalate problems to team leaders and project managers
- Plans and performs own tasks
- Follow up and control work performed by suppliers
Work Experience
Requirements:
Education and experience
Diploma with Tool Design / B.Tech in Mechanical Engg.
8+ years of Tool design experience from the manufacturing industry.
Work exposure in BIW is an advantage.
- Good knowledge and In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, welding, Drilling & Lean Manufacturing Principles.
Good knowledge of Manufacturing and Assembly Process.
Good understanding of Engineering Drawing reading, Drawing and detailing standards.
Good knowledge and skills in digital tools (CATIA/3DX/Process Simulate) in the Virtual area.
Hands-on experience in at least one PLM software (Windchill Preferred)
Skills and Competence:

Indepth knowledge of Tooling design principles, GD&T & DFM Principles.
Planning and estimation skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
