Job Description:
Role and Responsibilities
• Repository Architecture: Design and implement the Git repository structure mapping legacy components, releases, and change CMVC tracks to Git repositories, branches, and tags
• Tooling Development: Build CLI wrappers and automation that bridge existing developer workflows to Git equivalents; integrate with internal issue tracking and defect management tools
• Build System Integration: Update AIX build infrastructure (Makefiles, packaging scripts, release tooling) to source code from Git instead of the legacy system
• CI/CD Pipelines: Design and implement GitHub Actions pipelines with AIX/Power self-hosted runners for build, test, and release automation
• Access Control: Implement GitHub Enterprise org structure, teams, CODEOWNERS, and branch protection rules reflecting existing access control policies
• Developer Enablement: Create documentation, runbooks, and conduct training sessions for AIX engineering teams transitioning to Git-based workflows
• Cutover Planning: Lead parallel-running strategy, validation, and final cutover with minimal disruption to active AIX development
Required Professional and Technical Expertise
• Handson experience with version control systems and developer infrastructure
• Experience with large-scale SCM migrations in enterprise environments
• Strong proficiency with Git internals (fast-import, rebase, reflog, history rewriting)
• Experience with GitHub / GitHub Enterprise — Actions, REST/GraphQLAPIs, org administration
• Scripting expertise: Python, Bash/KSH, Perl
• Familiarity with AIX/Linux, build systems, and LPP packaging
• Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and pipeline design
Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
• Experience with IBM RETAIN or APAR defect tracking workflows
• Knowledge of Power Systems architecture and AIX development
• Familiarity with Jira, GitHub Projects, or similar issue trackers
• Prior work on developer productivity or infrastructure teams
• Experience administering GitHub Enterprise at org scale
