Role type: Full-time

Role summary

At Anaplan, we are looking for a Business Analyst to join our Reporting & Insights team withinthe GPTO organisation. This role sits in the same team as our Business Intelligence engineeringroles, but is focused more heavily on business analysis, KPI interpretation, stakeholderpartnership, and turning ambiguous leadership questions into clear, actionable insight.

The Reporting & Insights team partners with leaders across Engineering, Product, and ProgramManagement to explain how we deliver value to customers. We own the reporting estate, semantic definitions, and value stream metrics used by senior GPTO leaders to understanddelivery, quality, dependency health, investment mix, adoption, and engineering effectivenessacross the organisation.

Why this role

Engineering and product leaders are asking increasingly complex questions about deliveryperformance, investment choices, dependency health, AI adoption, and value streamoutcomes. The team needs a Business Analyst who can connect KPI definitions, business context, andstakeholder decisions rather than only producing dashboards or data extracts.

Our reporting estate includes around 190 KPIs across delivery, quality, dependency, investment, and adoption, and we need stronger analytical ownership of what those metricsmean, how they are used, and where they create real decision value.

The AI-augmented software development lifecycle is changing how we measure engineeringeffectiveness, and this role will help define the analytical framing for those new measures.

What you will own

  • The analytical relationship with senior stakeholders across Engineering, Product, and ProgramManagement for selected GPTO reporting subject areas.
  • Translation of ambiguous leadership questions into clear analytical briefs, hypotheses, metricdefinitions, and decision-ready insight.
  • KPI interpretation across delivery, quality, dependency, investment, adoption, DORA, andvalue stream reporting.
  • Recurring business reviews, executive scorecards, and leadership narratives that explain whatis changing, why it matters, and what actions are available.
  • Prioritisation of new reporting and analytics requests, including deciding what should becomerecurring reporting estate versus one-off analysis.
  • Close partnership with BI engineers and analysts to ensure dashboards, semantic layers, anddata models reflect the real business questions being asked.
  • Definition and measurement of AI adoption and enterprise AI effectiveness, includingadoption metrics, usage trends, baselines, pilot coverage, and the business value created byAI-enabled ways of working.
  • Use of Engineering Metrics Service (EMS) and related engineering productivity data as asource for leadership-facing reporting, scorecards, and decision support.

Your impact

Dashboard governance and standards

  • Define and maintain dashboard standards across the reporting estate, including namingconventions, ownership, audience, purpose, refresh cadence, and certification status.
  • Establish clear version control and change management practices for Power BI dashboardsand related reporting assets, ensuring stakeholders understand what has changed, why, and when.
  • Partner with BI engineers, data owners, and business stakeholders to manage access, permissions, and appropriate use of dashboards, including sensitive or leadership-onlyreporting.
  • Create reusable templates, design patterns, and documentation so dashboards areconsistent, trusted, easy to navigate, and aligned to agreed KPI definitions.
  • Review dashboard usage and stakeholder feedback to identify duplication, retire outdatedreports, and continuously improve the quality and relevance of the reporting estate.
  • Partner with senior GPTO leaders to turn complex operational questions into evidence-basedrecommendations.
  • Develop and maintain analytical narratives around engineering delivery, DORA performance, dependency health, investment mix, and AI adoption.
  • Define how KPIs should be interpreted, documented, governed, and communicated acrossthe reporting estate.
  • Support executive reporting by explaining trends, trade-offs, limitations, and confidence levelsin the data.
  • Identify gaps in current metrics and work with BI engineers to improve semantic definitions, join paths, and reporting usability.
  • Help the team distinguish useful signals from noise across Atlassian, GitHub, CI/CD, and otherengineering toolchain data.

Your skills

  • Strong experience in business analysis, business analytics, product analytics, operationsanalytics, or a comparable analytical role in a technology organisation.
  • Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and translate broad business questions intospecific, defensible analytical outputs.
  • Excellent KPI literacy, including the ability to define, challenge, interpret, and explain metricsin a way that supports decision-making.
  • Comfort working with engineering, product, delivery, or value stream data, including deliveryperformance, quality, dependencies, adoption, or investment allocation.

  • Strong judgement in ambiguous environments, including knowing when the available data cansupport a conclusion and when it cannot.
  • Ability to define and interpret AI adoption, enterprise AI effectiveness, and engineeringproductivity metrics, including working with EMS or comparable engineering metricsplatforms.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Atlassian data and workflows across Jira, Confluence, Jira Align, or JSM.
  • Experience with DORA metrics, value stream measurement, DevOps analytics, or engineeringeffectiveness reporting.
  • Experience in a SaaS, enterprise software, platform engineering, or product and technologyorganisation.
  • Python, advanced SQL, or statistical analysis experience for deeper analytical investigations.
  • Experience shaping executive scorecards, quarterly business reviews, or operating rhythmreporting.

What we are not hiring

  • A pure dashboard builder. Dashboards matter, but the value of this role is in businessinterpretation and decision support.
  • A data engineering owner. This role will partner closely with BI engineers but is not primarilyresponsible for owning pipelines or warehouse architecture.
  • A customer-facing analytics product manager. The focus is internal GPTO reporting, insight, and operating rhythm support.

About the team

Our Reporting & Insights team sits inside Engineering Enablement and partners with leadersacross Engineering, Product, and Program Management to report on how we deliver value tocustomers. We work across the Atlassian stack, GitHub, CI/CD pipeline data, and enterprise BItooling to help leaders understand performance, quality, investment, dependencies, andadoption. You will work alongside experienced BI engineers and analysts, bringing the businessanalysis lens that ensures our reporting estate answers the right questions and supports betterdecisions.

What we offer

This is an opportunity to help shape the analytics narrative for how GPTO measures AIadoption, engineering effectiveness, and value delivery at enterprise scale. You will work in adeveloping, high-visibility area where the organisation is still defining the right questions, metrics, and operating rhythms, giving you the chance to influence strategy as well as reporting execution.
