BNGAI is a Nature Intelligence Platform that uses satellite imagery and AI to deliver scalable, high quality environmental insights on any piece of land, anywhere. The platform automates habitat mapping, land classification, condition assessment, and environmental reporting at a speed and scale that manual methods cannot match. BNGAI is the platform's flagship product for the UK market, purpose built for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) compliance in England. BNG is one of several use cases the platform supports globally, including TNFD reporting, science based targets for nature, ESG disclosure, and large scale environmental monitoring.

The Role

Do you love ecology and the power of spatial data? Do you dream of using cutting-edge technology to solve real-world environmental challenges?

If so, then this Associate Ecologist position is for you! We're looking for passionate and skilled individuals to join our dynamic team and be part of an AI-powered sustainability platform that uses remote sensing, spatial data, and agentic AI to transform ecological monitoring and biodiversity management.

How you'll make an impact:

  • You'll play a pivotal role in mapping detailed habitats, conducting LULC classification, monitoring biodiversity trends, and informing conservation efforts across diverse landscapes - while also working on our next-generation tech-driven ecology workflows.
  • You'll have opportunities to design and test logic flows in a UI-based environment that supports RAG-based and agentic-AI powered tools - helping make ecological analysis faster, smarter, and more scalable.

What we're looking for:

  • Master's or equivalent degree in Ecology, Forestry, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on habitat enhancement, biodiversity, or remote sensing.
  • Tech-oriented mindset - curiosity and comfort working with AI-assisted tools, rule-based flows, or logic-building interfaces to support automation in ecological workflows.
  • Prior experience in applying geospatial analysis to ecological mapping or conservation projects is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of habitat mapping, LULC classification, and analysis using remote sensing data, ideally focused on UK/EU ecosystems.
  • Hands-on with GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS, or similar) and comfortable working with large geospatial datasets.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex information effectively.
  • 0 to 2 years of total work experience.

We are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. We are committed to embracing diversity and inclusion in our hiring practices, and we promote a work environment where everyone, from any race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin, can do their best work.
