Assistant General Manager
Job Description
To handle all aspects of MHR Dept. and other HR tasks - like recruitment, planning and deployment of seafarers.
\nFPM oversees MHR Dept. activities and staff ensuring compliance of established Company's policies
\n\nIn-charge of all respective personnel matters for Pool of vessels assigned. Conduct /
\nparticipate in pool meetings on daily basis and closely co-ordinate with the Pool Manager /
\nDirector on all ongoing assignments/recruitment and all crewing matters.
\n\n·Maintain direct contact with sea staff on leave and advise/prepare them with regard to their
\nnext assignment. Supervise MPO’s on :-
\n\ni) Co-ordination with Head office /agents.
\nii) Cost optimization crew travel - relief plans /family joining.
\niii) Processing of crew documents license, certificates
\niv) Disposal of crew early leave/extensions requests
\nv) Crew mail dispatch.
\n\n·Scheduling assignments of ex and new sea staff, ensuring due consideration for vessel type
\nand ship specific requirements. Senior officers’ assignments to be in co- ordination with
\nDirector. Verify officers, families and ratings have proper and valid documentation with regard
\nto the vessel they are joining and tenure on board.
\n\n·Keep updated record of licensing requirements for various flag states.
\n\n· Monitor Statistics and Analysis of Inactive / Promotion / PIP/ Medicals of Sea staff. · Verify applicable wages, standby wages, other payments due and recovering monies in letter of assignment
\n· Take decisions for retention/ re-employment / promotion/ training/ counseling and ship board follow up.
\n· Training - Emphasis on training of officers and crew on safety and pollution prevention and company‘s expectations from them on quality improvement. Assist Training Superintendent/ Coordinator, whenever required for co- ordination of officers / ratings to attend various mandatory, specialized courses and seminars.
\n· Follow up P&I claims of officers and ratings, for group of vessels assigned. Debriefing senior officers for evaluation of crew performance and record suggestions for Quality improvement where necessary.
\n· Keep abreast of current crew budgets /crew costs.
\n· Briefing of all officers/ratings joining vessels with AE policies and system.
\n· Audits- Provide technical / audit assistance as per requirement.
\n· Ethical Practice - Strive for utmost fairness , highest ethical and professional standards in dealing with Seastaff at all ranks

\n\nPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
\n\nProven experience in a managerial role within the marine industry
\nComprehensive knowledge of maritime regulations and standards
\nGraduation/Degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration or related field
